very short but cute game!! added this to my wishlist when it wasnt out yet and forgot about this for a few months but im glad i came back. you can tell theres a lot of love put into this game <3

Very cute, very well done game!

This was another cute cozy game I tried. It took me a bit to get into it, but it was nice and simple. Cute graphics.

Very cute game! Not much to it. You walk around your adorable neighborhood talking to everyone, exploring the houses, making friends with worms, and buying cool things at the various garage sales. Nice music, cute art style, just an all around nice name. My biggest criticism is the walking speed is so slow and there's no fast travel. Otherwise, fun game!

Adorable game with fun storyline and great gameplay

Cuteness abounds in this cozy, nostalgic Gameboy-style game with beautiful pixel art. You play Juniper, a little girl who is walking around her hometown, Lettuce Village. It's a local holiday, "Garage Sale Day," where everyone is hosting garage sales. Juniper is given the quest by her dad to make three friends, and friends are made by, how else, completing people's quests. Juniper completes quests by exploring the town and locating items, people, or information. I enjoyed the variety of the quests available despite the relatively simple gameplay style. The town is populated by a ton of characters, and I thought the writers did a great job of establishing unique personalities for all of the characters that matched their quests. The town also has a handful of mysteries that feel fun and rewarding to complete. It's up to the player to choose where the game ends, and you can meet the bare minimum requirements and finish the game and have had a pleasant time, or you can try to find all of the quests you can, speak to literally everyone in town, and collect literally every item for sale at the garage sales. The type of experience that the player has is really in their own hands. As far as the themes of the game, I really enjoyed the sense of community, which felt resonant compared to how isolated many of us feel in reality these days. Lettuce Village is a diverse neighborhood racially, with a pair of lesbian moms, and also there are also people who are dogs, cats, and moles, etc. People know their neighbors and want to help each other out just out of a sense of community (or at least, Juniper helps people out, lol). This is contrasted with another city nearby (not visitable), where capitalism is king and its residents feel isolated. I enjoyed that Juniper's parents live separately (the game begins at her dad's house, and ends at her mom's house.) Their separation is not explained, and the game is unconcerned with their history. I enjoyed this implicit normalization of divorce and/or atypical parenting setups. And that's Garage Sale. A very cute and sweet cozy game, and it's a fun time.
