Gamer Stop Simulator: Prologue is exactly the kind of management game I can easily lose time in, especially because the subject is so familiar. I run a small video game shop and start with limited resources, buying games and consoles from customers, repairing broken hardware and trying to build the store into something much bigger. I really liked the idea because it combines retail management with the fun of discovering old games and rare items. Buying from customers is one of my favorite parts. I have to look at what people bring in, inspect the condition and decide whether a potential purchase is worth the asking price. Negotiating makes these interactions more interesting because I cannot simply treat every item as guaranteed profit. Finding something valuable at a good price gives the whole process a satisfying little rush. The repair system is another nice addition. Broken consoles and other devices need to be diagnosed before I can properly repair them, and improving my skills can make the work more efficient. I enjoyed this because it gives me something active to do between sales. I am not just watching numbers move on a management screen. I actually have tasks to perform inside the shop. I also like the store building side. Shelving, stocking games and gradually improving the shop gives the prologue a clear sense of progression. The idea that I can eventually decide whether to build a huge marketplace or focus on a smaller collector style store is particularly appealing, because it gives the business a little more personality than a simple profit simulator. My biggest issue is that this is still a prologue, so many of the bigger ideas are not fully available yet. The current experience gives me a strong taste of the business loop, but I wanted more customers, more repair complexity and more opportunities to customize the store. Some of the systems also feel like they are clearly preparing for a larger full release. Still, I really enjoyed the combination of nostalgia and management. Buying old games, checking hardware and slowly turning an empty shop into a functioning business is a surprisingly satisfying loop. The first person presentation also helps because I feel like I am physically running the store instead of only controlling it through menus. Overall, Gamer Stop Simulator: Prologue is a very enjoyable management game with a great subject and a satisfying core loop. I liked negotiating purchases, repairing hardware and developing the shop, and the collector angle gives it a nice sense of personality. The limited scope is the biggest drawback, but the prologue does a good job of showing why the full idea could be worth following. Rating: 7.3/10

the hands are weird sticking out like zombies... its meh in its current state, too cartoony for my liking in many respects... the painting, trash clean-up, and the like are nice... the money is an issue, in the USA we do not have 20 cent pieces its just weird... you can barely do anything about thieves, hitting them with a bat is not going to stop them... need to be able to hire security if you are going to have thievery in a game like this, or at least better way to combat the thieves... the 'online' orders is handled pretty well, would make more sense for a post office or delivery service though (they come and pick up orders)... there are other minor issues that can be ignored for the time being...
