[後半に日本語レビューあり] [h1] A VN where a youthful ensemble drama intertwines with a sci-fi story of crossing worldlines [/h1] Set in a special all-girls boarding school, this visual novel follows an ordinary protagonist, Arata Yashiro, as he becomes entangled in the mystery of a strange illness called “Youth Deficiency Syndrome” spreading throughout the school, while caught between his childhood friend Chihaya and a mysterious transfer student, Haneha. The first half plays out like a classic rom-com, but in the latter half, the tone shifts into sci-fi, culminating in a passionate development where [spoiler]he travels to another world to save his friends[/spoiler]. There are three heroines, all portrayed with care and fully voiced. Some scenes especially stood out with impressive voice acting, making a strong emotional impact despite the short runtime. Visually, the character sprites and event CGs are on par with commercial VNs, enhanced with cute SD illustrations that add warmth to the daily scenes. The theme song, “Superstring Theory Schicksal,” is an energetic and memorable track that fits the story’s tone. On the other hand, [spoiler]this is clearly only the “first part,” and many of the core plot threads and foreshadowed elements are left for the sequel, “Miracle of the Singularity”[/spoiler]. The total playtime is around 2 to 4 hours, and choices are [spoiler]essentially limited to a single point, with only two branching routes[/spoiler], making the structure simple. There are H-scenes (with the “full content” applied), but they lean more toward light romantic intimacy. They serve more as a spice to enjoy alongside the story. While the price (~16USD retail) may seem a bit bold at first glance, depending on one’s expectations, the indie qualities not found in commercial titles can affect overall satisfaction. The charm of the characters, the theme of youth × sci-fi, and the quality of presentation and voice acting are all quite high for an indie VN, and it can be said that the story successfully carves out its own niche as a youth VN focusing on bittersweet emotional shifts. Though the structure is [spoiler]clearly built with a sequel in mind[/spoiler], the lingering foreshadowing and emotional aftertaste left at the end give it a unique appeal. I felt that this work will resonate especially well with players who prioritize atmosphere and thematic storytelling.
