Edit: The developer is continuing to work on Hakoniwa Sumo. He has added a "newcomer screen" where you can pick from new wrestlers, and he has also fixed the bugs in the game, so those two paragraphs which were my main issues with the game no longer apply. In my opinion this game is too good to be free, and people who like sports management sims really need to check this out. Also there is a review about a virus being in the game. I've never noticed anything like that. I think it is due to a false report from an AV. ======================================================================= This is a pretty good management sim. I've enjoyed it, although it has some pretty serious flaws. Here, you run a stable of Sumo Wrestlers, signing guys for your stable and watching them fight matches over years and years. This is strictly a text-based management game, so you do not control anything in the matches themselves. Even if you don't understand Sumo wrestling, the documentation does a decent job of telling you what everything is. The fights themselves are entertaining. You can understand what is going on. The translation was probably done by google translate. It's not pretty but you know what the game is trying to say. This would be a really good game, worth $10 in my opinion except: You have very little control over who to sign. You'll say, I want to sign someone this month. And the game will be like, "Do you want this guy? I can't tell you if he's any good even how tall he is, but I can show you exactly what this 21 year old fighter was like when he was 15.". And you'll say no, and it will show you another guy with the same lack of info and if you don't select him, you don't get anyone that month. It kills the game really, because even though you understand what is going on, you can't knowingly sign anyone who takes advantage of your knowledge. There are no finances. Well, there are but when you run out of money, someone just gives you more and it doesn't really matter. There's also no training. You've got no input into how the wrestler develops. After 5 hours my game has started to crash when it hits a certain point, so I think my save is getting messed up which would be a game-killer if I had paid for this. So I am of two minds about Hakoniwa Sumo. One one hand I think it is an excellent text-based management game for being free. On the other hand if the developer had added the above missing things and fixed the bug, he could have had an excellent $10-$15 text-based management game instead, and I would have spent 200 hours playing it. I hope he is continuing to work on this idea.
Before I played Hakoniwa Sumo, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Kulağa ne kadar tuhaf gelse de şu anda batılı oyuncular için Ozumo hakkında mevcut en iyi oyun.
this game is a virus, DON'T INSTALL but it's just a theory, a GAME theory!
As weird as it may sound like, currently the best game about Ozumo available for the western player.
"箱庭小相撲" (Miniature Sumo) is a sports management game (yes, another glorified spreadsheet pretending to be a game) where you manage Sumo wrestlers in Japan. What do you do in the game? Look at spreadsheets and laugh at how poorly implemented the game is. For gameplay purposes, because the user interface for this game is mostly just 2D static text/images... it might as well be a web page. It's functionally no different from a browser game. And we all know, Steam isn't here to compete with Chrome and Firefox. If the game can be done in a web browser, it's just not rich or compelling enough to appeal to serious gamers on PC. The graphics here are particularly awful, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's just text with a couple of extremly badly done MS-paint Sumo guy pictures. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. This game is fairly dated at 5 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? This is a hard pass. There's no immediate financial commitment, but there are thousands of more compelling games on the platform that will give you a lot more enjoyment for your time.
I feel bad...the programmer obviously has a passion for Sumo and is very detailed orientated. However the English is not readable and the GUI is baffling for a text game.
☀️
There Is a lot of fun to be had here but I found it quite hard to navigate at times, and the english can be very weird but the passion Is there.
