GalaxIverse II is a space-focused arcade shooter that favors straightforward action, ship progression, and player freedom over complicated storytelling or simulation-heavy mechanics. Developed and published by Sub Orbital Software, the game places players in control of an upgradeable spacecraft and sends them against hostile alien forces across a collection of combat-oriented areas. Its foundation is deliberately accessible: fly, destroy enemies, gather useful materials, improve the ship, and become powerful enough to deal with increasingly dangerous opposition. The result is an experience aimed primarily at players who enjoy classic shoot 'em ups and multidirectional shooters with a modest progression system layered on top. The combat system is the most important part of the experience. Instead of restricting threats to a single direction, enemies can attack from multiple angles, requiring players to remain mobile and constantly aware of their surroundings. Dodging incoming fire while simultaneously tracking targets gives battles a twin-stick shooter flavor, particularly once several enemies occupy the screen. Larger hostile ships provide more substantial confrontations and help break up encounters with ordinary enemies. The mechanics are relatively easy to understand, but maintaining good positioning becomes increasingly important as the amount of incoming fire grows. Progression gives the shooting considerably more purpose. Materials acquired while playing can be used to strengthen the player's spacecraft, creating a satisfying cycle in which combat produces resources that make future combat more manageable. Previously completed locations can also be revisited, allowing players to gather additional materials rather than becoming permanently stuck against a difficult section. This makes the difficulty somewhat flexible because players willing to spend extra time improving their ship can prepare themselves before attempting tougher challenges. Another worthwhile element is the freedom to choose where to travel. The structure is not completely linear, allowing players to explore different directions through its universe and return to earlier locations when desired. This provides a welcome degree of independence without transforming the game into an elaborate open-world space simulator. Exploration exists primarily to complement combat and progression, so anyone expecting extensive trading, diplomacy, planetary exploration, or deep role-playing systems should adjust expectations accordingly. The design remains centered on arcade action. Cooperative functionality expands the experience for players interested in sharing the action with another person. LAN cooperative play allows friends to fight through encounters together, which can make crowded battles more enjoyable and provide opportunities to divide attention between different threats. The multiplayer implementation is nevertheless more specialized than contemporary online matchmaking systems. It is best suited to low-latency environments rather than players looking for a large public multiplayer community or effortless long-distance matchmaking. The control options accommodate both mouse-and-keyboard and gamepad users. Mouse aiming naturally suits multidirectional shooting because it provides quick and precise targeting, while controller support gives players a more traditional twin-stick-style approach. The latter is especially relevant for handheld gaming. Regardless of the input method, responsive movement is essential because survival frequently depends on avoiding enemy attacks while continuing to fire. The visual presentation embraces a functional 2D arcade aesthetic rather than attempting cinematic realism. Ships, projectiles, enemies, and environmental elements are presented with enough clarity to keep the action understandable during busier confrontations. The space setting provides plenty of opportunity for colorful weapons and large-scale enemy vessels, although the overall presentation reflects the relatively modest scope of an independent production. Players attracted to mechanical simplicity are more likely to appreciate the visuals than those expecting elaborate effects and high-budget spectacle. Replay value comes primarily from collecting additional materials, improving the spacecraft, revisiting stages, experimenting with progression, and pursuing the game's Steam achievements. These elements provide reasons to return to completed areas beyond merely repeating the same encounters. Steam Cloud support is also a convenient addition for players who regularly switch between compatible systems. The game does not depend on an enormous quantity of interconnected systems to maintain interest; instead, it relies on the fundamental satisfaction of becoming stronger and more capable against previously troublesome enemies. For Steam Deck use, GalaxIverse II does not have an official Valve Steam Deck compatibility rating listed on its Steam store information, so it should be treated as unverified rather than officially Verified or Playable. Its controller support, relatively lightweight 2D presentation, and straightforward gameplay make it the kind of title that could potentially suit handheld play, but the absence of an official compatibility classification means users should not assume flawless operation. Certain control behavior or interface considerations may require adjustment, and mouse-oriented aiming could also influence personal preference when playing exclusively with the Deck's built-in controls. The game's limitations mostly stem from its deliberately narrow ambitions. Players looking for an expansive space epic, detailed narrative, sophisticated RPG mechanics, massive environments, or feature-rich online multiplayer will probably find it too modest. Those expectations are outside the central purpose of the design. GalaxIverse II is more successful when judged as an uncomplicated arcade shooter where movement, aiming, resource collection, upgrades, and replaying encounters form the core experience. Ultimately, GalaxIverse II delivers a focused combination of multidirectional shooting and gradual spacecraft development. Its nonlinear progression, replayable areas, upgrade materials, cooperative option, and accessible combat give it enough variety to rise above a completely barebones shooter. It is not particularly ambitious in presentation or mechanical depth, but players who appreciate smaller arcade experiences may find its direct approach refreshing. The ability to strengthen the ship and revisit earlier locations creates a rewarding sense of improvement that complements the fast-paced battles. Rating: 7/10

it's a FREE and FUN little game
