This is a review by the League of Waifu Hunters. I don't usually write full on reviews for the games I play for my curator page but this one was offered to me for free through curator connect so here we are. This game has a few major flaws and we need to discuss them in order to give you an idea of whether or not you should buy it. Especially at full price which is currently $8.99 (Canadian). Again, I received this game for free as a curator.
Issue 1: Unfinished
This game is not finished. That is to say, this game is rough. When you first start a new save it asks if you would like to do a tour of the ship and if you accept you will get softlocked on the intro sequence. This is the first 60 seconds of the game for a player like me who typically skips dialogue. At other points, the games assets are blocky from a lack of anti-aliasing, and you can see where the developer took certain shortcuts with their design. For the minigames, often the "board" for the game is simply layered on-top of the background, but it doesn't cover the full screen area making it look tacked on. The pieces used in the Match-3 game seem like they were made in MS Paint on a Windows 3.1 laptop track-pad. The art for the girls is a similar theme albeit some more effort put in. The actual Match-3 gameplay has some bugs which I found in the first few minutes of playing. And the way that the blocks get filled in is very bizarre and goes against the unwritten rules of Match-3 game design. It's not a new spin on the game, it's just poor coding and a lack of understanding of what makes these games fun.
Issue 2: Artwork
The absolute most important thing in a game like this, for this genre, for people like me who play dozens or even hundreds of these; the most important thing is the quality of the art. This game is very hit or miss, with a style that feels like it crawled out of the bowels of a dilapidated Usenet server. It's not terrible by any means but it is extremely dated and lacks that extra bit of effort to really sell it.
Issue 3: Nice Guy Tropes in Dialogue
I am hesitant to use the term "inc//el" here as I feel it might detract from my overall sentiment but honestly that's the vibe I got playing this game. It's weird for someone whose whole schtick is playing hentai games to accuse a developer of giving off inc//el vibes, but this game somehow did it worse than others. At the very beginning of the game a into card tells you that part of the goal of this game is to teach men how to actually date REAL girls in REAL life. This is done by giving commentary on your choices in-game through the Ai character (who you can also date). This game is called "Galatic Pick Up Artist" because it literally just teaches you the same BS that real-life "Pick Up Artists" teach people. I don't know if this developer is just taking the piss but seriously this stuff is just bad and toxic advice. I'm gonna be honest with you, I am a married man who plays these for fun and fantasy. My spouse is fully aware of the games I play. But I would be very uncomfortable if she thought I was unironically playing this game with the dialogue that it has. It also brings up some of the inc//el talking points about how attractive people don't understand anything and that the only way to get sex is to be aggressive and controlling. It's really terrible advice I cannot stress this enough. If you are friendly with the girls the game will lament your choice and say, "oh she will only see you as a friend, not someone to have sex with" like ???? what???? Dude if you believe the stuff you wrote here, you need help. The lines it wants you to pick at things like, "There's something you could help me with *cocky smile* but it would require a lot less clothes".... and with the context of the developer saying they want to teach men how to actually get women it's kinda insane. Usually in these games I want to take the most overtly sexual approach, but this game makes it so uncomfortable and throws off the vibe. I don't want my character to be a cocky aggressive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who forces himself onto girls, I want him to be charismatic and suave with the girls swooning over him just from being so handsome. There's a difference there and you need to learn it!
Conclusion
All-in-all I cannot recommend anyone purchase this game. It's not finished, it's buggy, the art is half-assed, the mini-games are bum, and the match-3 is poorly designed. As well it overall just gives terrible advice and has a bad vibe. For $8.99 (Canadian) it is about $8.98 too much. I'd expect to find this game for free on H-Games or WPG or some other free-to-play backwater site. You have been warned. Edit: oh and the porn is bad too
Alright... from where to start... First issue- the game bugs out if you click "yes" on the introduction to the Cauldron Second issue- tutorials didn't exactly explain how the game will play out. I had to learn through trial and error and usually that wouldn't be a bad thing, but when you have to res the entire game and scrap runs it's kind of frustrating And speaking of frustration- I personally dislike the "do this in the allotted time" shtick, because I'm a slower player. If you tell me to raise survivability and do fun stuff, I'll raise survivability until I'm certain I won't fail This is my issue, not blaming anybody, but it is a reason I wouldn't recommend it. And finally I know a lot of people will be weirded out by the puzzle, because this is the first matching puzzle I've ever seen that behaves like this. Like if you match 3 in a row, only one row will fall and the next one will spawn new boxes. It makes it impossible to predict what happens. The redo button was literally my best friend for the whole thing. For pricing I'd say it didn't cost much in rubles, but if you're in the EU/US, I wouldn't recommend spending (Not unless it's like 80% discount) Overall I'd rate this game as more wasted potential than anything... I mean they could've made a lewd type Cradle of Rome, which was a pretty fun, light and interesting little game... but we got what we got. If a dev reads this- please keep in mind expanding on more simple and straightforward gameplay, but with more thought on making it more... extensive.
this game isn't even beta ready. If you make any changes to the options you have to reboot the game or it will glitch. The puzzle game needs work as half the time it gives garbage pieces while not having enough turns, unless you date the AI, and the pieces don't fall right since it will only drop the one or three pieces above and then re-spawn above that instead of dropping ALL the pieces above it down. Unless you play at the highest resolution you end up having the buttons on the sides cut off. The text in the options menu is hard to read. if you play in any map except the blue one sometimes you will have every enemy ship spawn on top of you and kill you right away, thus wasting time. The free play can't be ended unless you go back to the main menu, and then you have to reboot if you don't want glitches. even re-rolling the puzzle tiles only gives you anything useful 25% of the time, which at a cost of three turns is a waste. Not worth the price right now until they fix the major issues, but I have my doubts on anything being fixed. It looks hurried and half-assed on its development. One last bit - you have to restart the game each time after the credits finish or you won't be able to start a new game.
18+ Dating sim/puzzle + 4 waifus - bugs = A space themed Huniepop lite. Match 3 and explorer mini games. Supposedly helps sharpen your real life pickup skills (not confirmed).
Hey! Do you often come to this galaxy?
At first, I expected Galactic Pick-up Artist to be just another Huniepop clone, but I couldn’t be more wrong. It features so many unique elements it makes the game stand out among the rest of its genre.
Pros
- The gameplay is solid and very original - Both the backgrounds and the characters are pretty - The soundtrack is good and fits the setting.
Cons
- There’s a drop in quality in some sex scenes - The game is a tad short
Story
You’re an unnamed commander who is on a week-long space expedition along with his all-female crew. Of course, your priority here is not to accomplish your mission but to woo any of the girls in the short time you’re there. Due to the game’s short length, the plot is barebones and lacks character development. However, the dialogues are enjoyable, and there’s a different ending for each girl. Additionally, it has a unique feature that surprised me in a good way. When it comes to visual-novel-styled narrative, most games usually don’t tell the player whether they made a good choice or a bad one until they reach the end. In contrast, this game tells you right away the result of your choice, though one wonders if the tips it gives you would work in real life. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2476834265
Gameplay

Overview
The gameplay mixes exploration with match-3 mechanics and visual novel elements. Each day is split into three phases: Early, Late, and Night. During the Early and Late phases, you can improve your characters’ skills or date your crew members. In the night phase, you explore nebulas in search of anomalies.
L-Let’s go on a date
Its core mechanics are similar to games like Huniepop: you have to increase your affection by matching tiles of the same color before you run out of turns. However, the main difference lies in having six different statuses to raise instead of just one, and each of them has a minimum and maximum limit. I like how original this system is and how it pushes the player to take a different strategy. Instead of just making lines, you have to plan which tile you move to avoid wasting turns or, in the worst case possible, failing the date because you matched too many tiles of the same type.
To infinity and beyond!
The exploration segments consist of exploring nebulas in search of anomalies while you avoid asteroids or hostile ships. Each of them is an obscured, procedurally-generated map with a grid-like interface, and each square becomes visible as you move through it. I have to say it took me a bit to get the hang of it, but I ended up enjoying it. What I liked the most was how they managed to link this part with the whole dating system. The amount of stress varies based on how well you do in this section which, at the same time, influences the number of turns you have on each date. Moreover, each successful date gives the ship some upgrades like extra fuel or increased firing range depending on the girl you date.
That’d be delightful~
The game mechanics in the sex scenes reminded me of the ones found in other games like Wish or Mirror. Like in the previously mentioned games, you have a limited amount of turns and actions to increase the girl’s desire; nevertheless, more actions become available as her desire increases. The mechanics are solid, even if it doesn’t take much effort to unlock everything. The best part is you can replay each scene in the Free Play section in the main menu, but this time without turn limits. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2476834134
Art
I have mixed feelings about the art. On the one hand, both the backgrounds and the characters’ models in the dialogue segments are pretty but, on the other, there’s a noticeable drop in quality in the sex scenes. Some characters look a bit off-model as if the art was rushed (Ilya’s scene, in particular, stands out the most).
Music and Voice Acting
The game features partial voice acting, meaning the actresses only said a few lines, moans, and noises to convey the girl’s mood instead of complete lines. They did a good job, although I think it’d have been better if Miyuki was just breathing heavily at the start of her sex scene. It just feels a bit odd to hear her moan loudly before doing anything to her. Regarding the soundtrack, it’s pleasing to listen to and fits the setting and the vibe of the game.
Bugs & Issues

Specs

[th]CPU[/th] [th]GPU[/th] [th]RAM[/th] [th]HDD[/th] [th]OS[/th]

Intel Core i5 3.5k Ghz nVidia GTX 970 16 GB WD Black 1TB Windows 7

The game was buggy back when it was released, having both minor and game-breaking bugs, but the devs fixed all of them. While I think they should have delayed the game’s release date a few days to get enough time to fix those issues, it’s noteworthy how fast they took care of them.
Final Thoughts
Galactic Pick-up Artist is a neat and original dating sim fans of the genre will like. The game is enjoyable even if it’s flawed and takes a bit to get used to its game mechanics, so give it a chance, especially if you’re looking for a game that differs a bit from your typical Match-3 game.
For other Adult/Hentai themed reviews, please follow us at Lewd Gamer!
Galactic Pickup Artist is the third Shady Corner-published game I've reviewed recently, but unlike those, this is a game I can't recommend to anyone for any reason. I'm going to get the elephant in the room out of the way right now: the game emphasizes that it contains real advice from an actual pickup artist to help you score girls in the real world. This is problematic, as women in the real world AREN'T video game characters. While it's permissible (and possibly even encouraged) to lie to a game character, or tell her precisely what she wants to hear, or even to treat her like crap because she needs a “dominant man” to teach her “how to be a good girlfriend”...it doesn't work that way in real life. Pickup artists, generally speaking, are sociopathic scumbags that advocate negging, withholding of affection, and having a friend specifically to engage the “ugly friend” so you can get laid. I'm not saying these things don't work, but people who advocate doing them aren't good people. Life isn't a video game, and women aren't NPC's. That being said, Galactic Pickup Artist IS a video game and the women ARE NPC's. So moving forward, I'm going to proceed to judge this game purely as a game, and try to ignore the fact that on some level, the developers are endorsing this behavior in the real world. The sound has a semi-generic sci-fi soundtrack, but you're missing out on nothing by playing with your sound off. There's no voice work to speak of, outside of the interactive sex scenes. The artwork for the girls is above average with an anime aesthetic. It all falls apart in the gameplay aesthetic, however. The interactions with the girls are honestly just disappointing. You'll get binary options on how to respond to a girl in-conversation, and if you pick the “wrong” answer, you'll get a lecture about how what you did won't get you laid. Keep in mind, the game is literally claiming that this is advice you should ALSO apply in the real world. But even if you can somehow exclude this tidbit, it feels like the game is demanding you play a very specific way. The dating minigame is even worse. It's like they looked at games like Hunipop and said “How can we make the interface uglier while also eliminating any enjoyment from the minigame, and possibly making it somehow unintuitive as well?” I also managed to encounter a glitch that locked my game up when I lost a date at one point. The pseudo interactive scenes are about what you'd expect for a game at this price point – looping moans and very basic animations (four per girl). There's also a space minigame that controls like utter crap, where you're looking for “anomalies” for some reason. It's clunky and unenjoyable. At every turn this game seems to go out of its way to make things unpleasant for the player. Between having the game literally demanding you behave a certain way (or face more needless lectures explaining how bad you are with women) , unintuitive minigames that lack any semblance of fun, and a rather glitchy game overall (it locked up multiple times), I found myself asking “what's the point”? Like this specific studio's most recent release (Slime Girl Smoothies), it's like the dev thinks complexity equals fun, and the game suffers for it. At least with SGS, I could see the draw. I don't see it here. People who are inclined to listen to a toxic “pick up artist” are probably not looking for a video game to show them how. But even if they WERE, they're not likely to find a reason to stick around, because the gameplay just isn't fun. It's been done far better by plenty of people. Given that it's not a fun experience, and it's honestly not well made, I have to suggest avoiding it. And yeah, at least part of it's the message. The message is a genuinely awful one. It sounds like something you'd hear directly out of Roosh or some other Men's Rights Activist douchebag, or some other guy eagerly talking about how you're a beta cuck.

That is supposed to help you become a pickup artist.
Gameplay
The game starts off by allowing you to select if you would like to go through the tutorial as you are introduced to Satella your ship's AI. Your ship is the NSFW Cauldron. Next up you meet Miyuki. Then Satella offers to give you a full tour of what her body has to offer. Which seems to lock up the story when I selected Give me a tour. The game is designed to last for one week (seven days). There are three phases to the day: early, late, and night.
Final Verdict
Avoid this title at all costs. It is currently unplayable due to multiple loops. You will make a selection and the only option that works after that is going back to the main menu. buggy at the introduction. the game is a weak huniepop. doesn't feel different from each girl. just looks. same talk/questions. didn't feel unique 4/10
Ugh, what a mess. It tries to be a HuniPop clone, except with extremely slow puzzle gameplay lacking in much variety. The menus are buggy as can be, had to reset after getting pop ups stuck or unable to proceed multiple times. The art is...subpar to say the least. The music is short and repetitive. Way not worth the price even on a good sale, let alone full price.
