About
Gaia Maker is a planet-wide simulation game of terraforming, based on real physics and geology. Become the planetary overseer and use advanced planetary engineering to terraform lifeless planets into lush green worlds. How the planet develops is entirely up to you.

Various factors across the entire planet, such as insolation, temperature, atmospheric composition, and the carbon cycle, are dynamically simulated based on real physics and geology. Every action the player takes affects all aspects of the planet's condition.

Players are given various means for terraforming. Construct Dyson swarms to secure needed energy, build giant mirrors to regulate stellar light, and produce oxygen necessary for life with oxygen generators.
You can have animals inhabit planets with suitable environments. Furthermore, you can evolve some animals, granting them civilization.
The development, wars, decline, energy consumption, and planetary impact of civilizations are also meticulously simulated. Civilizations start in the Stone Age and progress until they gain the technology to harness fusion. Players can also influence the population growth and energy consumption of their civilizations, and observe how these parameters affect the evolution of their civilizations.

Starting on a planet with existing oceans makes terraforming very easy. However, planets with harsh environments for life, such as ice planets or desert planets, require a slightly different approach to terraforming.

it is a cute little game and it is for free. Nothing to complain besides that more details or more features would be better.
It's a fun little free game about terraforming planets. Very relaxing, no real pressure, and is entirely a sandbox - you can do whatever you like and there are even achievements for doing the opposite of your job. It's kind of neat to watch the civilizations grow, though their interactions are hard to see and aren't too interesting. At least they're something. The different planets provide neat little challenges of increasing difficulty. I actually found the barren planet easier than the Desert planet, maybe it's because the sea levels are somehow more stable... Either way, they force you to engage in tools that the earlier planets didn't teach you about. It's nice. Surprisingly, I haven't seen a lot of destabilizing climates over my short time playing. The most I've had happen was a planet almost freezing over because I kept blasting it with solar rays for terraforming - which kept releasing tons of aerosols into the atmosphere and covering up the sun. It was easy enough to fix, though. I still really want to see a civilization cause deforestation, but it's so easy to make an incredibly lush planet that I don't know if I'd ever see it happen. At least, the game makes things easier by letting you tweak some sliders, such as discouraging power sources, adjusting aggression, population growth, etc... The graphics are neat but nothing spectacular. The music is really nice, but it gets repetitive quickly. The UI is pretty nice, though tooltips break at higher game speeds. I wish I could pop out several windows; being able to see more info at once would be helpful for some goals. Also, having to adjust sliders for all civilizations is annoying, as you have to go to each of their pages in the slider menu... There's a bunch of quality of life missing - no hotkeys whatsoever, no fullscreen option, can't really adjust anything else beyond volume sliders and something else that I forgot. It sucks that the game's performance starts to suffer on max speed. Overall, a fun little diversion from other, more stressful, more complex games. The achievements are neat and give you some goals to pursue, but some of them are just plain tedious. Draining all the Co2 Atmosphere? Just a waiting game. Three-Way Deadlock? Bugged. 7,5m population? Boring waiting game. Apparently this is some kind of spiritual successor to SimEarth, but I've never played it nor seen it, so I can't offer any comparisons. As a modern game, though, it plays pretty nicely. And again, it's free. No reason not to try it, if it looks interesting enough to you.
Fun game, reminds me of Sim Earth.
