a really cool entry into this genre that gets better and better as your runs snowball in terms of power. it avoids a lot of the pitfalls that worse games in this field fall into (like Vampire Survivors and Wanted Shadows) like a lack of player agency (you have to manually aim and fire in this by default, like a twinstick--though there are options for auto-aim and auto-fire), barren and nondescript levels (FLS feels much more as though its environments fit the setting), boring standard enemies (as it's constantly introducing new types), boring bosses (unlike A LOT of games in this genre, the bosses aren't just bigger versions of the normal foes--but are tanks, generals, etc.), and diminishing returns as you get more powerful (that's what really killed Wanted Shadows especially for me). everything in this is very thematically coherent, which I appreciate. nothing feels like it's just doing what other games are doing just to follow the overall trends, but trying to do what most fits this setting. is it the best game in this genre yet? no, that's still GunSuit Guardians--but it does a damn good job in its own right and is totally worth the plunge if you're into this kinda game. for more thoughtful recommendations of the best games on Steam, check out my curator, The Absolute Finest.
Great game! it's like Risk of Rain meets Vampire Survivors. The game is quite hard but has lot of customization through characters and weapons (Gwen <3)
It's the modern day version of Commando on NES. For all you youngins NES stands for Nintendo Entertainment System. It was the first "console" released by Nintendo back in the 80s. It's a great survivors or VS type game. Even though I think this genre is far to overdone this one definitely deserves a seat at the table. It has 5 different characters to unlock or use and they all have very different play-styles. Each character gets three different starting weapons which adds another level of variation to each run. It has meta progression, nostalgic graphics, a good price, decent game-play loop and tons of room for updates/additions. Bonus points for releasing yesterday and I haven't had a single bug or crash. That's what should be expected but in this day in age where everyone is a game dev triple A games can't even figure that one out. Thank you very much for making this game and I can't wait to see what's next.
It might not look like much, but it’s quite fun for a few runs. The gameplay fits in the popular horde-survival games. You need to move around the playing area and shoot at enemies. If you don’t want to bother with shooting, you can turn on aim assist and autofire to make things a bit easier to play. Collecting experience points from defeated soldiers or destroyed infrastructure fills up a bar, allowing you to choose one of three perks. With each level, stronger enemies appear on the map. The goal is to demolish or capture eight bases and then protect your own, which is darn hard on your first play. That is why you'll need to go for a few runs to have a shot. Following each defeat, you receive a set amount of cash based on your performance. This currency is then used to purchase additional characters, weapons, and perks. You can only take two perks on a mission, Each character is equipped with a unique weapon and two special abilities. Their usefulness is limitless, but they require a few seconds to recharge. Weapons are intriguing since you can upgrade to more powerful versions that deal more damage, fire faster, and have larger clip sizes. This makes a lot of difference because I was able to beat the game with the first character and his best weapon. You soon realize that the game isn’t even that hard. I could even go on for hours if I wanted it. Unfortunately, the final reward is limited so playing for more than required won't give you anything extra.
Great game, definitely did not expect this amount of variety in weapons and environments in it!
Very good Survivor game, much pew pew
Very good survivor game with original and fun game mechanics. Sad this game isn't better known, as it clearly deserves more visibility.
nice !
Fun and replayable The diversity of weapon and characters added with the upgrades allow you to branch on quite a lot of possible builds. Classical but efficient AD
