Frogworld is an Early Access free VR game that is educational about Frogs in Nature. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Devs stacked the deck against you, where ever you go and what ever you do, your days are numbered as a Frog. It is Eat or be Eaten. Land is not safe, keep moving down the creek to the next group of lilly pads. You have to outrun the pollution in the creek and your Health is rapidly decreasing. This was paid product, now it is free. Try this game, see how long you can live as a frog.
Before I played Frogworld, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Warning: Asset Flip! "Frogworld" is one of literally thousands of creatively bankrupt asset flips infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere.
This asset flip is a pointless VR tech demo with a bunch of ripped off Unity Asset Store assets and a weak premise about being a frog. The developer couldn't work out how to assemble other people's assets into a real game so abandoned his attempt and walked away... keeping any and all money he scammed off gamers. So, "Frogworld" is partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. Little, if anything in this game is the creation of the "developer". While there's no up front price for this asset flip, the other problem with asset flips is that when developers aren't capable of doing their job and creating high quality assets, it's also true they can't do any of the rest of the job of a game developer either. That's definitely true for "Frogworld", and this kind of asset flipping never results in games that have quality or value for PC gamers. The developers abandoned this 5 years ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. The game is quite short, and can be run through in just an hour. The lack of content here makes it hard to suggest it's worth spending the time to add to your library and download. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. This game is fairly dated at 5 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $10 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? Not on a bet. This might be "free", but I still feel like I got ripped off.
