About

Okay now, get yourself together and control your legs, one step at a time.
Sounds easy? Not really. You literally have to control each leg independently. Keep your balance, stumble forward, crawl if you must. Just try not to land face-first on the pavement!
Rope sounded like a fun idea: chained together, like conquering a peak, right? It would be a shame if you fell off the bridge with this rope on and dragged the whole squad down with you.
I suggested calling an Uber, but you guys wanted to take a walk and take some side quests, huh?
Now you're dealing with hills, stairs, bridges, parks, construction sites, playgrounds, and all kinds of sketchy “shortcuts” and suspicious bozos.
Every street corner turns into a new physics challenge waiting to ruin your walk home. Good luck.
Customize your look and stumble through the night in style.
Salaryman, firefighter, punk, cop, or maybe a streamer? Pick your ridiculous look and hit the streets. Everyone deserves a little fun after hours!
• Physics-based movement: control each leg independently
• Rope-linked co-op chaos (1-4 players)
• Various locations and challenging routes
• Hidden shortcuts, items, quests, and side paths
• Speedrun mode - find the fastest way home
• Character customization and emotes
• Online voice chat

Maybe that last drink was a bad idea!

Friendly Steps takes an everyday activity and turns it into the entire challenge: simply walking from one place to another without collapsing into a heap. Developed by KORO.GAMES and published by Ytopia, it is a physics-driven cooperative game for up to four players in which a group of heavily intoxicated characters attempts to make its way home after a long night. Instead of treating movement as an invisible tool for exploring the world, the game makes locomotion itself the obstacle. The result is a deliberately clumsy mixture of coordination, slapstick comedy, frustration, and multiplayer chaos. The central mechanic involves controlling the character's legs independently. Moving forward consequently demands more attention than pushing a stick in the desired direction. Each step has to contribute to maintaining momentum and balance, and an awkward movement can quickly lead to stumbling or falling. There is a learning curve hidden beneath the absurdity, as players gradually become better at managing the intentionally troublesome physics. Early sessions may involve spending an embarrassing amount of time overcoming basic terrain, while experience can eventually turn the same controls into something approaching controlled movement. This makes successful navigation surprisingly rewarding. The concept becomes much more entertaining with friends. Friendly Steps supports cooperative play for as many as four participants, and players can be connected together with a rope. This transforms individual mistakes into group emergencies. One person slipping near a ledge or losing balance on difficult terrain can drag others into trouble, while coordinated players can attempt to stabilize one another and move as a unit. Voice communication fits the design naturally because planning, warning teammates, celebrating successful crossings, and reacting to spectacular failures become an important part of the multiplayer experience. The journey takes place across a city filled with environmental challenges. Stairs, slopes, bridges, parks, construction areas, playgrounds, and other obstacles force players to adapt their movement rather than repeat the same walking rhythm from beginning to end. Narrow or elevated areas can become particularly tense because a minor positioning error may undo significant progress. The environments therefore work as extensions of the control system, turning ordinary urban architecture into genuine hazards. Exploration provides additional reasons to wander away from the most obvious route. Players can discover shortcuts, encounter unusual characters, find items, complete optional activities, and investigate alternative paths. These diversions add variety to what could otherwise have been a straightforward trip from the starting location to the destination. They also create entertaining risk-versus-reward situations because leaving a relatively safe route to investigate something interesting may result in another disastrous fall. A dedicated speedrun mode gives experienced players the opposite objective, rewarding efficient routes and increasingly precise mastery of the unusual locomotion system. Customization and emotes strengthen the social side of the game. Different outfits and character appearances make multiplayer groups look appropriately ridiculous as they stumble through the environment. These cosmetic elements do not alter the underlying physics, but they suit a game whose entertainment frequently comes from watching characters fail in exaggerated ways. The overall presentation does not take itself seriously, and its visual personality supports the intentionally chaotic gameplay. The drinking theme is also important to understanding its style of humor. Intoxication is fundamental to the premise, with alcohol references and drinking-related behavior forming part of the comedy. This gives Friendly Steps a more adult comedic tone despite its colorful and exaggerated appearance. Players who enjoy absurd physical comedy should find the concept easy to appreciate, although those who dislike alcohol-centered humor may find the premise less appealing. Beyond the main cooperative experience, the game includes useful supporting features such as achievements, leaderboards, controller support, cloud functionality, LAN and online cooperative options, and Family Sharing. The achievements provide additional goals for completion-oriented players, while leaderboards complement the speedrunning component. Controller support is especially valuable because a physics game centered on individual leg movement benefits from an input method that feels comfortable during extended attempts. Steam Deck compatibility is less definitive. Friendly Steps does not currently have an official Steam Deck Verified or Playable compatibility rating, so it should be treated as officially unverified rather than guaranteed to work perfectly on Valve's handheld. Its controller-oriented design may make handheld experimentation practical, but the absence of an official compatibility classification means players should not assume that every feature, interface element, online function, or performance characteristic will operate without adjustment. The game's greatest strength is also its most obvious limitation. Movement is intentionally frustrating, meaning players who expect responsive conventional controls could quickly become irritated. The physics are supposed to create failure, and repeated mistakes are part of the experience rather than something the design attempts to eliminate. For the right audience, however, falling down repeatedly is not wasted time because each accident can become another comedic multiplayer story. Playing alone emphasizes mechanical mastery and frustration, while playing with friends shifts the focus toward unpredictable social entertainment. Friendly Steps succeeds by committing fully to a simple but effective premise. Independent leg control, cooperative rope mechanics, environmental hazards, optional exploration, customization, side activities, achievements, and speedrunning give the basic concept enough surrounding structure to feel more substantial than a one-joke physics experiment. It is unlikely to convert anyone who fundamentally dislikes deliberately awkward movement games, but players who enjoy physics-based challenges and chaotic cooperative experiences should find plenty of entertainment in the journey.
