One screen trivial shooting game that would be a low tier entry in a minigame collection. The gameplay is very monotonious and unchallenging, and that's without the built in cheats. This is a bad waste of time. I would be disapointed if it came in a serial box.
It still suffers from many issues that plague the other HE Junior arcade games, but at least this one has some extra depth, as shooting the correct bubbles requires timing and winning the levels in this game is mainly skill dependent (So a huge upgrade to most of the other Junior arcade games).
Worm Doodles! You've gotta have em! I know Luther is a big fan of the chocolate covered Worm Doodles. I'm more of a RED flavor fanatic, myself. Anyways, this is a fun little game that is not too difficult. It does get a little trickier as time goes on, but overall I don't remember it being particularly hard as a kid when I was the target demographic. Now, I'd still say it is not to bad, though can be a bit frustrating at times due to certain mechanics. I appreciated getting a Luther focused game. Freddi isn't left out, though. You can actually play this game with two players, and the other will play as Freddi. This choice actually changes the ending of the game too. That's a genuinely cool aspect of the game, I'd say. All in all, I would say this is worth picking up, but I would suggest doing so on sale and perhaps within either the Freddi Fish Complete Pack or the Humongous Entertainment Complete Pack
This is a rare time the game getting mixed reviews makes sense, it really IS a mixed bag. And I can fairly judge this game, since I used to also play it in my childhood, and I'll be honest, it may actually be worse to play for kids. It's not that it's the hardest Junior Arcades title from Humongous Entertainment, far from it, but what is required of the player to succeed is something kids(especially younger me) just don't have often: patience. To succeed you need to shoot the bubbles because if they hit the surface, it'll get lower and lower, until there's no place for Luther to swim in. But the dilemma here is that, if you patiently shoot one pelt per click at a time, you may not be quick enough to remove enough bubbles before the level gets deflooded from water. But if you just hold down mouse one(M1) button, Luther will quickly tire out and waste a lot of time in a cool down. So to actually effectively play the game, you have to either very quickly click m1, or hold it for a bit, then stop for a second, then continue holding it and so on, basically managing an overheat mechanic of sorts. And that's just wasn't fun for me, especially as a kid. Another frustrating part of the game, is how 90% of the obstacles stun you, sure it's better than what Pajama Sam Lost and Found did where it outright took your life, but this is still frustrating, especially since stuns can be "refreshed" by new stuns, say you get stung by jellyfish but then near the end of a stun, you accidentally get hit by a big bubble, giving you new full length stun The game devolves into a waiting match of sorts, either from waiting for stun to end, or cool down on your slingshot to end, or just waiting until finally worm in a bubble shows up. And that's how ALL but ONE stun(the big throwing bowling ball, that one for some reason is a very short stun) work, another frustrating obstacle is, a fish that eats your worms, and only your worms, it doesn't eat worms that make Luther wobbly... So what ends up happening is that, this game isn't even that hard(probably got the most lives in this one cuz I didn't lose once), so long as you stay patient, know when to hold that M1, and then stop to not accidentally trigger Luthers firing cool down, and then knowing when to pop the bubbles(since almost all obstacles come from red outline bubbles, and sometimes it's better to let it rise to the top, to not trigger another jellyfish etc) So, in a way, the game does have a unique gameplay flow, and I did find one way to enjoy passing those 3 odd hours. Just listen to a YT video or a podcast, because 1) the sound effects of constantly popping bubbles or sea fish or obstacles genuinely sounds worse than any brainrot you can imagine and 2) I found that the game is juuuust difficult enough to be interesting to continue playing, but not too hard enough to require your attention, it's a perfect game to play while you listening to something Then why did I give it a negative score? Because while I personally enjoyed the game, it's really hard to recommend this game to anyone. It's not actually hard(probably one of the only Junior Arcade titles where adults just won't die because of how easy it is) so can't recommend it to hardcore players, it's not THAT casual for kids or cozy gamers to enjoy, and the gameplay, while unique, is still sort of monotonous and requires you to listen to something to play through it. It's just a very acquired taste, if you already bought it from Humongous Entertainment game pack, you might as well give this one a shot to see for yourself, but don't expect much from it, and try playing it while listening to something else.
Mediocre! And VERY VERY BORING! So the gameplay is basically, bubbles come up from the bottom of the screen, if they reach the surface of the water (which gradually lowers over time) then the bubble pops and you get nothing. Popping bubbles with your slingshot drops something. It could be just a little animated fish that does nothing then swims away, it could be a useful powerup, it could be an item you need to progress, or if it's a red bubble, it might be a hazard. This game does not have 'over 100 levels' it just has 100 levels. I only really started to notice a difference in difficulty during maybe the last 3 or 4 levels of the game. I never lost a life my entire playthrough and ended with a score of about 72,000 or something with 54 lives. By the way, the game has inherent autofire on the slingshot, so you just hold LMB for the most part. However, when you do that I think Luther gets tired, or something. However, the game only checks how long you've been holding the button, so if you have say a mouse macro that just spams M1 (this comes in handy in all sorts of games so I didn't make the binding for this one) then you never have to deal with Luther getting tired. None of the hazards, interestingly, do anything to you. At worst, touching a large bubble disables you for a few seconds. Same with jellyfish. The other hazards do things like, just make Luther vibrate, and stun you for one second - which interestingly can be used probably unintentionally to knock you out of OTHER disables. For instance if you've been hit with a jellyfish, getting hit with a rock or a bowling ball from the pig, knocks you out of the jellyfish disable after you endure the 1 second stun from the rock or bowling ball. So this game has the opposite problem of all the other minigame games by Humongous. This game has absolutely no challenge whatsoever, and is therefore incredibly boring. There's no puzzle elements. It's just really a lot of waiting. You need a certain amount of 'worms' collected to progress. Worms randomly drop from bubbles. You just wait for the bubbles with worms in them to spawn then pop them and pick up the worms. It scales up gradually from like 3 worms per level, up to 20 worms on the last level. Oh, also playing the entire game was worth it because I can share that there's actually a Monkey Island reference at the VERY end of the game, the last 10 levels have a backdrop that contains a skeleton wearing a hat and a treasure chest, the chest has a plate that reads 'G. Th***od' and I can't imagine what else it would be other than Guybrush Threepwood. So that was cute. If this was like a little minigame side thing in an actual Freddi Fish title, it'd probably be fine, but the fact it's a standalone game is baffling. I can't recommend anyone to ever play this unless you really want something VERY chill to do to pass the time while you watch a movie or YouTube or something, it has no substance, no story, nothing remarkable about the music, or anything.
I remember playing this game all the time as a little kid. Now it’s available on Steam, and I can finally relive my childhood days. I would recommend this game for kids and adults of any age.
好评只是鼓励老游戏上架steam。适合收集怀旧党。we need 1969-2009 all game upload to steam for sell. 我们需要所有游戏在steam售卖。we need chinese and fix good for pc. 我们需要中文和优化更好,适配现今的电脑。we need sell for very very very cheap. 我们需要售卖超低价。202210本平台充值折扣,支付宝红包(?),humble,杉果(?),fanatical,本平台,本平台掉卡零钱,淘宝,它处自定义包入的本体4元。目前就这,看以后追评。
Classic gaming right here! Very nostalgic, I wish HE was still making games. <3 (not a favorite but it passed time as a kid)
This side game reminds me a lot of Tetris where you have a background that changes as you advance the levels. The gameplay here is basically all about popping bubbles - which I'm sure will make a kid happy as they mash the mouse button into oblivion. That said, for how long they might do so is another story.... I found that there wasn't a whole lot of gameplay here - no enemies to really avoid per se, just a sling shot and a whole lot of bullet spam. Not enough elements really got introduced as you advanced along either. Notably though, there was a two player mode and an endless one to boot; but the two player mode is just hot seat and the game really isn't difficult enough to warrant having an endless mode.
