This game was really cool.. a bit abstract, but cool. You journey with two companions, and I’m not entirely sure who they are to us, but I loved Roka. The companions being your only light throughout the way feels symbolic, like maybe they’re a manifestation of different parts of us ? I don’t fully understand what happened or why we’re stuck in a loop, but it’s really intriguing. It feels like one of those stories that’s supposed to come together at the end, yet I finished with even more questions.. still, I really liked it, especially the atmosphere, and definitely recommend playing this game for yourself!
You open your Eyes and find yourself a World of Shadows. With you, two strange Figures. A Woman in a Suit called Amy and a Monster called Roka. Where are you? What happened? Find out. Welcome to FORMIDO! FORMIDO is a Walking Simulator by Tonguç Bodur. He is one of my Top 3 Favourit Developer and i´m excited for every new Game from him. In my Eyes he is the Arthouse Master of Walking Simulaters. Creating amazing Worlds and each an intense Experience. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3708051439 But this Time the Game is different from his Others. You are wandering through a World of Darkness and here Comes a Special Thing. You don´t have a Flaslight but your two strange companions have. That Forces you to follow them and stay near them. This is an interesting Dynamic i never experienced in a Game before. Oh and if you loose them, use Keys Q and E and you can see where they are. Very good done Mechanic. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3708052134 Amy and Roka guide you through the Game. They stop at Storyimportant Places, so that you can invetigate them. The Story is also told by Conversations between you (Peter), Amy and Roka. Your Way also leads you through different Timelines. The Story is mysterious but exciting. From the Beginning to the End. Experience it by yourself. 2,99 is an absolute Fair Price for what you get. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3708052379 The Graphics are typical Tonguç Bodur Style. When you Play a Game by Tonguç Bodur you will see it. Very detailed and amazing Graphics. And that goes also for Sounds and Music. Also very Unique. The deeper you go into the game, the more intense the entire soundscape becomes. With Headphones i really got Goosebumps. FORMIDO is an intense and extraordinary walking simulator in which you cannot die, featuring both calm and fast-paced moments. With an unusual storyline that literally keeps you in the dark for a long time. A big thanks to Tonguç Bodur for this really great Journey, i hope to see more of Amy and Roka in the Future, and thank YOU for reading. Tonguç Bodur's skill in crafting beautiful environments with really good optimization puts him in a great position explore many ideas and genres, which I've seen with the last few titles. So far, this title seems to go into a mystery ~horror genre, but IMO the advancement and "friends/follow" mechanic gives it a bit of an "on rails" feel, which (along with the dark atmosphere) takes me away from the reflective, self-paced visual exploration of the environment that I personally look for (based on the more classic titles like Drizzlepath, Bottle, Loverwind, Dead Tree, etc.). Still, it's engaging and I'm looking forward to how it unfolds. Overall, it's really well made, so absolute thumbs up for quality and execution, even if it's not 100% my cup of tea. [ORIGINAL REVIEW & UPDATE]---------------------------------- (UPDATE: The below issue has been addressed. Realizing it's not always possible or reasonable to expect this from devs, I'm amazed that Tonguç implemented an update to address my concern.) I cannot recommend this game with the conversation bubble sounds. They are like Chinese water torture... [FIXED] Suggestion to dev: option to remove those sounds, or add a volume slider setting for them, or change the sound to something more subtle.. [IMPLEMENTED]
lovely little bite sized experience, the game is very beautiful and i definitely think the environment is its strongest point, also reminded me of stray a bit! a little suggestion would be that jumpscares in a game like this were kinda offputting, other than that, i enjoyed it!!
This game has a level of polish that you don't usually expect from games at that price range. From the menus and graphics, to even the writing! Highly recommend if you like atmospheric story rich games!
Short and a bit philosophical journey of 3 friends (?) to an unexpected end.
I didn’t expect this game to be so well made, especially for the price. The atmosphere is dark and gloomy yet beautiful, and the overall experience feels very polished. A short but memorable game, really impressive, recommeded!
FORMIDO

Positives:
+ Nice graphics + Creepy atmosphere + Nice music and atmospheric sounds + Some sort of mystery + FOV adjuster + No footstep sounds or head-bob + Brightness adjuster + Auto run function + Achievements + Two slightly different endings (stand near either Roka or Amy in the end) + You can now turn the volume down on the dialogue indicator sound
Negatives:
- The storytelling is below par - No voiceover, [strike] just an annoying sound indicating each dialogue [/strike] - You are forced to follow your companions, or else you cant see anything or make any progress - The companions run uneven and irregularly, making them hard to follow at times (and you will be walking in pitch black trying to find them) - Long breaks where you are forced to wait - You cant explore freely or at your own pace because of the above - Overly use of special visual effects - The jump scares are just silly and unnecessary - Its all too dark in general, and you have no flashlight - Its only 1 hour long, but feels much longer
Conclusion:
To be honest, this game was a bit dissappointing. I was hoping for something a la Education, but this was nowhere near. It could have been a lot better if you were alone with a flashlight, exploring at your own pace. The companions just made the game worse, and with no voiceover, [strike] the annoying dialogue sound [/strike] and a sub-par story, its just not good enough. So if you want a creepy atmospheric walking simulator, play Education instead, its much better. As for this game, its just okay for a playthrough, but nothing more.
Total Score: 6/10

*Edited 30.10.25 because the developer decided to add a volum adjuster to the dialogue indicator sound*

I won't comment too much on specifics, but this game had an atmosphere it was going for, and I think that the dev nailed it. I enjoyed my experience with this game. It's definitely one more to be felt than to be played. There are several good messages layered in with this game, and I'd like to think it was not lost on me, even if it is on others.
Not much of a game. More of a cry for help wrapped in Unreal Engine.
