About
Forgot is a short anomaly hunting horror game. You play as a boy who is imprisoned at home with his grandparents. But is this really your home and are you sure those are your grandparents?
You want to leave, but no exit leads to the outside. The rooms are looping endlessly and time seems to be standing still. It is midnight and "grandmother" won't let you leave before the morning. She keeps feeding you cake and sends you back to your room.
Sometimes your surroundings change and sometimes they stay the same... Look out for anomalies and make a decision:
Are there anomalies at home?
The cake is poisoned, do NOT eat it and leave immediately!
Does everything look normal?
The cake is safe and delicious, make sure to eat it on your way out!
Only if you make 12 correct decisions in a row, the morning will come and the path to freedom will open.
Playtime: 15 - 60 minutes

Forgot is a tightly focused psychological horror experience that embraces minimalism while still managing to leave a lingering impression. Developed and published by Maxwell Whitebaker, the game places players in a looping domestic setting viewed through the eyes of a child, immediately establishing a tone that feels both vulnerable and quietly disturbing. Rather than relying on overt scares or complex systems, it builds its identity around subtle unease, asking players to pay attention to their surroundings and question what they think they know. This simplicity is deliberate, creating an experience that feels intimate and slightly disorienting from the very beginning. The central gameplay revolves around identifying anomalies within a repeating environment, a concept that has become more common in recent indie horror titles but is handled here with a notable sense of restraint. Each loop through the house encourages careful observation, as even the smallest detail could signal that something has changed. Objects may shift position, lighting might subtly alter, or the environment may warp in more unsettling ways. The tension comes not from action but from perception; the player is constantly weighing their own judgment, deciding whether the space is “safe” or not before progressing. The requirement to string together multiple correct decisions adds a layer of pressure that gradually intensifies, making even ordinary details feel suspect. It’s a simple loop on paper, but one that effectively plays on doubt and second-guessing. What gives the experience more weight than a typical anomaly-spotting game is its narrative framing. The presence of the grandparents, especially the grandmother, introduces a surreal and vaguely oppressive dynamic. Her insistence on feeding the player and discouraging escape creates a sense of being trapped in a situation that is both mundane and deeply wrong. The story is not delivered through explicit exposition but through implication, environmental cues, and repetition, leaving players to interpret what is really happening. There is a strong undercurrent of symbolism here, with some readings suggesting themes tied to memory, control, or distorted perception. Whether or not those interpretations are intentional, the ambiguity works in the game’s favor, giving it a psychological depth that extends beyond its short runtime. Visually, the game leans into realism without overcomplicating its presentation. The house feels believable enough to ground the experience, but it carries an uncanny quality that becomes more pronounced the longer you stay within it. Subtle visual changes are the backbone of the gameplay, and the restrained design ensures that players remain attentive at all times. Sound design complements this approach well, favoring quiet tension over loud interruptions. Ambient noise, occasional silence, and the absence of constant musical cues help maintain a steady sense of unease. Instead of relying on frequent jump scares, the game allows discomfort to build gradually, which ultimately makes the experience more effective. The main limitation of Forgot is its brevity and lack of mechanical variety. The experience can be completed relatively quickly, and while there is some incentive to replay due to different anomalies and outcomes, the core loop does not significantly evolve. Players looking for deeper interaction or more complex systems may find it somewhat limited, as the game is intentionally narrow in scope. However, this constraint also contributes to its clarity of vision—it never tries to be more than what it is, and that focus helps it deliver a cohesive experience without unnecessary padding. In the end, Forgot stands out as a concise but memorable psychological horror title that understands the power of subtlety. It trades scale and complexity for atmosphere and interpretation, offering a short experience that lingers in the mind longer than expected. For players who appreciate slow-burning tension, environmental storytelling, and the uneasy feeling of questioning their own perception, it delivers exactly what it sets out to do. Rating: 7/10
Pay close attention to all details! Unsettling puzzle horror game. Definitely worth a playthrough.
I don't often write reviews for games but this one I felt was needed. Possible spoilers ahead so proceed with warned caution. First, I saw this game on a FB reel being played by someone and it looked interesting. I'm not really one for horror games in which I am not able to actually do much more than run. I mean, let me blast those supernatural creepies. But I figured for the reasonably low price and the fact it was an hour or two of play time, time of which I had some to kill, it was worth it. And boy, was it worth it. It had some decent scare moments and plenty of "oh heck, nope nope nope!" moments. But it kept me engaged and interested in seeing what happened next. This is where the spoilers might come in as I discuss the ending. So if you don't want it spoiled, read no further. As you play, you come to realize there is a story here. Once you get to the ending and explore the ending area, you understand the story and realize how sad and real it actually is. I watched my grandmother slowly succumb to dementia and eventually Alzheimer's. It was not something I would wish anyone to witness, let alone go through themselves. I can imagine that something similar to this is exactly what was going on in her head on a daily basis. So yeah, this game hit home a little harder than most others. So, to the devs, well done on a small and enjoyable "horror" game with a bit of a sad, but relatable good ending.
Good game, worth it ! Insane surprise for a specific anomaly
me gusto, interseante
Definitely holds up to the name I was able to beat this game but I would say the scariest part about it was the very ending that ended up hitting close to home more than it should, but it’s definitely recommended to play it
A short fun little anomaly game about dementia. Easy to 100% all of the achievements as well which is a plus. Ran well on my low end rig. Well worth the $4
