I like the mechanics, and I like that is does NOT have a bit more deckbuilding. But it was no fun anymore after the RNG killed me too many times in Chapter IV.
This game is actually a nice passtime, but being greeted with the most anti climatic music ever isn't actually cool. You play the game as The Fox (yes, that's literally his name), and you might be wondering: What The Fox is doing in the Forest Dump? Well, he's helping Doc with his Forest Dump. Or at least that's what I think the plot is. The game is a rogue like with chapters consisting of interconnected stages, whose you travel from the bottom of The Forest Dump, to the top of The Forest Dump, exploring each node stages and picking branching paths, trying to find the card which leads to the next stage, while picking up handy items you can find in each stage, and surviving the attacks of creatures that might end up being future Digimons. The Prologue offers you a very predictable plot up to Chapter V (aka 5 boards), but the game will let you keep playing past that chapter without any restriction (but there wont be any boss fights or new story progression). The stages and card system is actually interesting. Each stage you're offered a number of cards that you have to open. Opening them might offer you an item, a monster fight, or nothing. If a monster is found, and there's adjascent monster cards hidden, they will show up, and the battle will get more serious (with even a music change). When battle gets serious, you need to choose wisely which attack cards you'll use to deal with the battle while reducing the amount of hits The Fox will receive (you still need to survive though). Anyways, there's an array of items you can find on the stage, from weapons with different attack damages and use times (some of them even prevents enemy attacks when used, but generally have limited amount of uses), you have healing items, and armor items, which will eat up the damage you would take on Health. Once the game gets more complex, you'll also have access to a platinum berry that heals... Radioactivity? Whose you gain from killing Batteries, and having 2 stacks of them causes you to lose health in every turn. The game is also a bit forgiving regarding battles too. If you are in a battle with monsters, and there's like food cards, or weapon cards in the board, you can pick up them and the monsters wont attack you, so you can plan further how you'll deal with the battle. Dying in the game is actually quite forgiving, if you think The Fox would turn into Forest Dump upon death, he'll actually only lose all his items, recover all his stats and be sent to the start of current chapter board, so you can keep on playing the game, and trying to beat the board. Some times you'll end up finding stores that sells items using scrolls you find through stages, or by discarding cards on that scroll stage. They generally have handy and powerful items you can buy. After playing for a number of minutes, I didn't had troubles with lack of scrolls to buy an item. The music of the stages and the battle (when you're ambushed by more than 1 monster) is actually fine. Actually, is a breath of fresh air after listening to... Whatever that music from the main menu and chapter map is. Like, seriously, that music makes you lose all seriousness you could have on the game, and makes it look like some silly stupid journey (which actually seems to be). The plot, I wasn't actually paying attention to it, but based on the few dialogues The Fox and with Doc, I already was thinking that the guy was evil
and he actually is, that's how the prologue story ends
. Anyways, this is a fun game to play and pass the time. Just be careful not to let the chapter board music remove all seriousness you have to spend planning your moves on the stages. Edit: Also, I wish I had more ideas of puns to use The Fox and Forest Dump on.

Nice game. Good and well executed idea + pretty visuals I enjoyed :)
В цілому гра прикольна, але швидко набридла через одноманітність. Можливо це просто не мій жанр =)
