I am having lots of fun with the game so far! I think that I get the idea of a "classic RTS feel with different ideas/mechanics" - wether you consider those modern or retro depends on you, I guess?! Very good vibes here, since I personally liked games like Warcraft 2 in the 90ies a lot, as well as Rampart on the SNES and such ... it´s different, though.

Not bad, has room for improvement. https://youtu.be/j_J1g4ORVIY
This game has very interesting gameplay; I can focus on the strategic ideas with less control for defense.
I tried incredibly hard to enjoy this game, but after almost 9 hours my patience on the design of this game has had enough. The artystle of this game is a jebait - It looks inviting, that warcraftish nostalgia looking aesthetic. That's where the similarity ends. This game tries so hard to dump down any friction that you might find in your standard RTS and just somehow makes it more tedious. - Managing your workers? Gone, they auto gather based on a proximity system. Want to mine that gold over there? You have to lure a worker close enough to activate it to go mine it. - Strategically microing your army in combat? Gone. There are two options when it comes to any combat unit. Retreat, or Move. That's right, there is no attack, or hold , or patrol, or all these QOL things we learned in RTS games 20 years ago. Why is there no attack? Because your units will automatically attack ANYTHING that comes into their 'sight' and at that point you can no longer control them, they will just keep attacking until either they die, the enemy units die, or you order a retreat. -Unit Pathfinding? Gone. I can't really explain this one as its the most frustrating aspect of this game, but probably has something to do with lack of control when any enemy gets in range of your units. Speaking of "sight', each unit has a sight range and attack range. For example, archers can see further than they can shoot. You will notice this annoying design decision on the second mission when you realize the game wants you to defend walls with archers from enemy archers, without being able to control your own archers because their sight range being further than their attack range makes their automation kick in, in an attempt to do whatever they can to attack the enemy units. There's a whole trap system that barely works because the enemy AI is so inconsistent in getting them to funnel into any of them it felt pointless to use by how difficult it is to do anything. Every part of this game is constantly fighting against the player, in this attempt to 'dumb down' the genre to make it easier to play, it just makes it a horrible unfun experience. This game is more tower-defense than RTS, unfortunately outside of the artstyle, its not one I can recommend. Everything that was stripped away to make it more simple, just makes it more frustrating to play.
I dunno, I am really on the fence. I'll leave positive review since its a small project, but its not my cup of tea. Automated workers are ok, but then u'll get not-automated archers and they are fckn nightmare in terms of manipulation. I've cleared 2 lvls and kinda done, not RTS enough, not TD enough...
Good nostalgia game. This gave me warm feeling of my early days in gaming. Very addictive and fun.
Been working through the campaign and the core loop is surprisingly addictive. It takes the classic RTS formula but completely cuts out the APM spam. Because your workers and economy are entirely automated, you spend your time actually designing your base layout, managing your macro, and setting up defenses for the next wave instead of babysitting individual harvesters. It’s really satisfying to just watch the logistics hum along on their own. Also have to highlight how active the developer is. They are constantly in the community discussions, genuinely taking player feedback on board, and pushing out patches when issues are brought up.
Tower Defence combined with Warcraft 2 (or your prefered old school style rts game) with very nice pixel art. I kinda hope we get a second race to play as. Really enjoying it so far though
It had good bones on it with solid mechanics and deep strategic building opportunities. That said, the interface is frequently painful. It feels like a game from around 2000 in both good and bad ways.
