Flicker of Hope is a suspense thriller where you play as a small candle in the ruins of a dark cathedral. Though the halls are littered with victims of a mysterious plague, you are not the only soul left. Use the properties of a candle, and a trusty douter to prevent yourself from being discovered.

Reviews
Hello, welcome all Chuds, Gamers, and other Nerds. I aim to 100% all the games that catch my eye and join the sea of reviews on this platform. Most will never read this, but I will review the games I find simply and thoroughly. 1 What is "Flicker of Hope?" (Title was once “Wick”) A short horror game where you, a living candle, must protect your flame and defeat the entity causing a plague. 2 What does this game play like? You must run, hide, and use wax pools to refill your wick. It is a basic hide and seek horror game, not much else to say. Simple rankings Story 8/10: Almost none to speak of. The store page provides some, but for the most part, the story telling is environmental. More importantly, the story works. The game is short, and this is a satisfying little horror tale. Game play 8/10: Basic hide and seek. Interesting environment / lighting (although a bit too dark in a few spots). The optimization is a bit rough, so the game is more demanding than it should be, and the monster / entity is a very basic design. For a free game however, this is impressive. Overall 8/10: This is a nice little horror tale. "Flicker of Hope" is better than the overwhelming majority of free (or even paid) indie horror games.

神秘蜡烛人
Amazing game! I enjoyed every second of it. Had some good scares and loved the music. I would have loved better directional sound for the enemies, but other than that, I think this game was completely worth my time :)
A very good game. I loved the premise of walking through a church setting and the very well-executed ending. I look forward to more games from this studio. Great job!
such a cute game c: I love it
50 50, super short 30 mins or less game. (Since this came out in 202, I doubt it'll be worked on any further than it is, but I wish it was.) I thought it was super cute, really cool idea over all with the style, & so on. Although, right off the back, the main menu screen is glitchy af with the movement of the MC candle. He gets caught/stuck on the ground and glitches continuously when running between options. Plus, the stealth doesn't feel like stealth. The nun still senses you everywhere when trying to be hidden, mainly for the first section/area you use it in. Plus using it really feels useless tbh, since most wax areas are either way to far apart to sneak around, and again she sees you anyways, or they are to close together where you don't need to use it cause its in an area where it doesn't need to be used. 100% with what "sloth1z" said about the silent hill//old style game camera change. I walked through, the camera changed so that I was disoriented, couldn't see anything, & actually ended up walking back into the room I came from and went right into the plagued ridden nun-like enemy. Overall, I love the ideas here, and would spend money on this if there was a little more to it, like I'm not sure about anyone else, but I have no idea what the character's little push does to anything...? Multiple people compared it to Little Nightmares, which I get it has the same dark feel and look while still being cute etc. But someone said something about puzzles, lol, like don't know what they are talking about, there are no puzzles, the book in the way of 1 entrance was or a glitchy mess that flung out of the way when you walk into it. Everything else is just, follow the camera, jump, run, because they only way to get through things, & make it to many of the wax sections is just to gun it, mostly since you can't wait at all. Like the main nun enemy, I think, got stuck right at the first showing of her, & it just kept respawning me and instantly triggering her to try an get me, and she either would, or she wouldn't move away, until I think I got her unstuck, in which case she still wouldn't walk that far away to get under the chair before she could grab me, so I ended up having to lure her up the stairs so I could just run.. Cause even know that's the first point it says to stealth/hide, I tried every time, and it wasn't working either way, it worked better later when it wasn't in a small area like the starting spot, but goodness, the game was just so glitchy & janky. I did love it, just wish it was more well rounded, longer, more to do, or at least fixing the things that are possible to do, to make them work better, and be more/actually used/useful, for more options between using stealth instead of just blazing through everything/speed running it. plus, uugh, don't change side of which way the player is going due to a camera angle change so they end up going backwards. like if your going to suddenly change camera angles, make them continue so they are still coming into the area instead of having the camera stuck between the wall, unable to see, and send them back the way they came. like I don't mind the camera angles at all otherwise. Oh last thing actually, the start, the noise when the screen is dark after the guy grabs you, whys there the sound of a pipe/pole drop, instead of a heavy object/body? i saw no pole/pipe etc, only a dead guy on the ground under blankets, and the candle coming out of the wax. If it was supposed to be one of the candle things, I'd suggest putting the candle holder on the ground, Having the character fall off of it, and the candles still lit on the ground, no candle in the middle. Also, I died many times due to the nun glitching, I thought I only had 1-3 lives from the candle holders, but its infinite? Just surprised by that is all. Thank you for making this, it was fun to try, I get that it's free, was still a lil fun for a free game, I hope you/your team makes more, or adds onto this project, cause I like it & wish to change the rating to a thumbs up if it gets better, even if this became the demo version, and there ended up being a full length game to buy later on, but yeah.. :) HIGHLY SUGGEST you have the little buddy have some type of fun, sad, or cool death when grabbed by the nun or the moths? mosquitoes/bugs?
