Thankfully, there's a non perma-death option. I find it much easier playing with mouse and keyboard... and not the Xbox 360 controller. Combat will take me a bit to conquer .. now that I've mastered navigation. Not a bad game at all - a labor of love, for sure. I do like the look of it. Have to hunt down the music software used... nice tunes. Forget the name of it, of course (Aha! Noise Station v2.07, found in the Readme file). Also, the Readme in the Flatspace file folder is very helpful. Thanks! ... and Noise Station is no more... sad. :(

good game
Great game, played a bunch when I had purchased it before it arrived on Steam. Beautiful Elite-inspired gameplay with its own twist on things. You will die a zillion times early on but that is part of its fun. A true classic.
Start combat training. I die. 4 times. No Instruction on how to actually play
All in all this game is a fun way to be challenged and still kill time.
Interesting game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqpRsAMg7Z0
"Flatspace" is a failed, rather badly made 3D rendered low poly top down SpaceWar! ripoff with some trading elements. The obtuse design, simplistic trading mechanics and "donationware" aspects of the game probably all contributed to the failure of this game, while it does seem genuinely made, doesn't mean it's well made. This features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this didn't understand that. This is only free in a rudimentary sense... the developer has their hand out for an eye watering $22 USD soundtrack "donation" for this as you're expected to buy some extra DLC from Steam... digital panhandling. Like the homeless guys who splash dirty water on your windscreen at the traffic lights. No thanks. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 6 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
