About
Flames of Freedom: 1821 is a 3D action side scroller platformer set during the Greek War of Independence. Blending fast, brutal combat with precision platforming, the game challenges players to survive deadly runs where death is permanent but progress is not!
Each run sends you through war-torn environments, inspired by real history and myth: burned villages, Ottoman forts, abandoned monasteries, ruined harbors and dark, mystical caves. While levels are currently handcrafted, the core experience is built around replayability, mastery, and adaptation.
Defeated enemies and fallen heroes leave behind Flames, a meta-currency used between runs to unlock permanent upgrades. These include secondary weapons, powerful special abilities and Anathemas: passive effects that reshape each run. With limited slots per attempt, every choice matters.
The story unfolds across 5 chapters, reimagining the Greek Revolution as a symbolic struggle between divine freedom and oppressive darkness. History and myth intertwine, turning real events into a timeless allegory of sacrifice, resistance, and rebirth.
In Flames of Freedom: 1821, death is part of the journey. Learn from failure, grow stronger with each Flame collected, and push deeper into a revolution, where freedom is not given; it is earned through fire and blood.

Can't wait for the full release. The intro in Greek gave me goosebumps.!
A nice and fast-paced game, set in an interesting time period that is not often represented in video games.
7/10
First, congratulations to NUMENON for their game. As a Greek guy felt emotional that a greek thematic game about Greek Revolution of 1821 was developed from Greek developers. The team is small and it is their first game, but I will try to be objective with my review. To be honest, I am not fond of Early Access games and get cautious, because many devs and companies exploit it against the consumers and sometimes gamers never receive a nice and final product. On the other hand, you know it is early access and depending the price it is up to you if you will trust the developer and decide to support his work. In my case I wanted to support the developer team since it is their first game and it has a nice concept, but if you want to experience the game at it its full potential you should probably wait until it is finalized. POSITIVE Level design is gorgeous. I loved the two levels, especially the second with the church. Definitely captures the vibes of that era. I loved the localization both text and voice in Greek other than English. You don't see it so often. Music is really nice but I would like to change during levels, because after a while it gets monotonous (it's also a comment from viewers on my livestream) NEGATIVE The game may be in early access, but that should not be an excuse for core mechanics not to work. On the contrary, it should provide an experience that works fully on its core and only a few refinements and bugs should remain to be fixed. The animations of the characters need refinement. Often I encountered glitches on melee combat and very often my character was stuck between enemies without anything to do (even roll didn't work). Spikes and traps don't work. In some runs the game bugged and gave me objects without finding chests and sometimes when I arrived at specific chest's location the chest was missing or it was open. The core mechanic of getting stronger when you go back to hideout is missing. As a result, you have something like a sandbox where you get hit by enemies, you get some objects from chests, but the buff you get is kind of insignificant. And when you die you start from the beginning without any change. You keep the flames though and they keep increasing kill by kill. The only thing I suppose it made a difference is when I got twice (by accident?) the object of getting HP with kills (flame of eternal vow) and I got more HP than usually. But that happened once and the incoming damage was still too much. I hope devs get a lot of feedback and fix the problems soon at least the core ones. I am looking forward to see it complete. PS: I will put the link from my livestream footage as a reference of my experience of the game. It begins at 20:04: https://www.youtube.com/live/paMuhEpl-Sw?si=0Wiy-zrakA32iysN
game is fine, needs a purpose u open chests with ''R'' btw
Can\t wait for it to reach 1.0 ! Great game, good graphics, music is ok so far (still early version) the scenery and the way they present the lore is outstanding. Thank you guys!
An amazing job has been done! The scenery are incredibly inspired—almost surreal. It feels fresh, different, and wonderfully original.
Firstly, I want to say it's unfair to rate this game negatively based on bad gameplay. It's Version 0.0.2 as of the writing of this review, of course the gameplay is going to be bad. It's not awful, but it's not particularly engaging or fun at this point; you just spam attack and you won't have any issues with most enemies, but it plays alright when you're not having your attacks interrupted by the Ottoman in the brown jacket and blue pants. I was able to get to the "end" of the game (the Priest, at least I think it was cause I couldn't interact with him) within 5 resets, so it wasn't as difficult as some other reviewers make it out to be, just git gud. That isn't to say it's all bad, it has a lot of potential. I got a very strong OG Prince of Persia vibe playing it, especially when the second level transitioned from a library to the literal depths of Hell. Not really my idea of how a game based around the Hellenic Revolution should play in but, again, it's V0.0.2. I'm sure we'll get some more realistic settings as development continues Anywho, if a PoP-style rogue-like sounds like your cup of tsai, this'll probably be your jam in a couple months time
The Game is a solid Rogue Lite Sidescroller. If they improve the game and fix some issues it will be a very good game.
