Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
I don't think I would have thumbs up this app if it had charged any money. This feels like a demo for another game the dev may release in the future. The problem is that the concept / alpha is just too simple. I played for about 8 minutes and honestly I don't think I would ever play it again unless it has a complete overhaul. You're basically just swinging at the floating balls coming towards you 180 degrees as you stand still (you may have to move your head to get a better view left to right of your peripheral vision). The balls get faster with each level for the most part, although there are some breather levels in between where they slow down. Nothing else happens. It is a polished experience although the sword strikes don't really feel great. It's free so I can at least give it a neutral recommendation. It is running on the Unreal Engine and on my RTX 3080 I was getting steady 90 fps. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs. Game was formerly to be called Helios.
Before I played FitStrike, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
"FitStrike" is hard to qualify as being a game... it's a VR tech demo and the purpose of the demo is to see if these developers can put in minimal effort and yet make a product that will somehow make them some money. What really happened is they wasted $100 on Steam Direct making a "game" nobody wanted, which they promptly abandoned, leaving it here to pollute Steam and make it harder for genuine developers who do the right thing to find an audience for their games. And for us gamers to have to sort through this pollution when searching for those genuinely made games from ethical developers. What do you do in the game? Wave your arms around. Apparently this is supposed to make you fit. This is no Wii-fit. The developers abandoned this 3 years and 2 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. The graphics aren't great. That's understandably be turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. It's free for now, but the developer intends to charge for this and infest it with DLC and presumably a cash shop.. if it ever leaves Early Access... but considering the poor public reception, it's likely this will not be one of the 25% of games that ever gets finished and leaves Early Access. What that does tell us that the only thing the developers were thinking about when they half-made this was dollar signs, and what the inside of your wallet looks like. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.

‘FitStrike’ is a workout style app in which you have to hit hundreds of orbs fired out of a floating robot drone. Keeping in mind that this is free I have to say it is a lot of fun! Sure, there is no beat-mapping and only one arena, but over the 9 levels on offer you will get a pretty good little workout and there is a score so you could challenge friends and family to it as well. It’s simple to play, fun and dare I say if you used it enough you could find yourself getting pretty fit with it as well. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best and that is where FitStrike shines. Even if this game was a few quid I would have probably still recommended it.
