English translation is a little rough at times but it's fun to play a FMV game set in a non-western culture.
hayatımda oynadıgım en boktan oyundu
bite-sized turkish dating fmv with abysmal english subtitles (other languages also available). they supposedly polished them a bit after release, which made me wonder how much worse it could've been. grammar, typos, extra spaces, missing spaces, missing translations, and it's not even ai, somebody's actually credited (but hopefully wasn't paid) for it. subs are encrypted unity files, can be unpacked, edited and repacked with assetripper and uabea, for instance, but why bother if they didn't? timed choices lead to various endings and fail states, getting choked to death was unexpected. at first I thought there were 6 endings because the 'ends' screen has no arrows or any indication that there's more, but inconvenient mobile-style dragging reveals the other 4 (the store page says 8, more great attention to detail). they can't be watched again, just a thumbnail replacing a blurred image. lazy. esc pauses the game but can't pause while trying to make a decision, gotta act quick because there's often barely any time to make your mind up. clicking the screen should also pause and choices should be selectable with numbers, arrows or whatever. space skips already seen scenes but it's buggy as ♥♥♥♥. there are scenes that never become skippable and if you'd like to keep things moving for the billionth time and accidentally press space too fast or too many times, it completely breaks and nothing becomes skippable for the rest of the session. failure brings up another choice, not timed for once: restart ('erase again', wtf?), back to the decision before the first date (not much difference, basically first choice or second choice), and if you reach the second date, a third option lets you restart from there but the checkpoint goes away if you reach an ending. there's an occasional pop-up in the corner but without a flowchart or similar '1/13' or '2/4' appearing on a tiny thumbnail for a second means absolutely nothing. has resolution options (go through them one by one instead of a drop-down list and they change instantly instead of asking for confirmation), windowed mode, subtitle toggle (open/closed instead of on/off like in no game ever) and a volume setting. the pause menu only allows for quitting without saving and toggling subs. another major problem is subtitles cover the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ choices on lower resolutions. smaller video would be fine but it makes the entire game a crapshoot. doesn't happen in 1920x1080 but it's just another example of zero testing. some non-choice subtitles go away almost instantly too, while others stay even after the scene is over. version numbers don't necessarily mean anything but v0.3.0 here sounds about right. one of the achievements seems to be bugged as well and I couldn't figure out which scene (I think it's just the one) I was missing for another and I got sick of semi-skipping everything over and over. the story and acting are fine for an amateur effort, nobody should expect too much, but pretty much everything outside the movie is done poorly. a simple timed choices toggle (or just allowing pause there as well), better handling of subtitles (if not translation, minimal proofreading and timing at least), saving on exit or at the very least keeping the second date checkpoint and fixing buggy scene skip would've made it an okay purchase for 3 bucks, even more so if it had scene selection, but sadly this ain't the turkish delight you're looking for.
