Good Game

It's a CRIME that this game is not longer. Although this game has been regarded as a "walking simulator", it's not that bad considering you can jog and the map is not that long (10 minutes jogging to get from West to East). Most of the gameplay is free-roam, meaning you can progress the story when you feel like it, as long as you have the equipment to do so (rope for climbing, axe for spiky bushes). Without going too deep into the story, you take on the role of Henry, a married man that decided to take a job listing to (NOT) go sit in a tower all day and look out for smoke, and the only one to keep him company through a walkie-talkie is Delilah, his boss, to whom he has to report anything he finds. Things start easy, put out fires, watch out for smoke, ward off drunk teens, but then you start suspecting that this forest has more secrets than people oughta know about... That's it, no more spoilers, go play it yourself. I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Now, for the achievements: 5 are story-related. 2 are obtainable as soon as Day 2: - Use up all the film in the disposable camera you find with the rope backpack; - Find the Turtle in the SouthWest lush forest and adopt it. 3 are obtainable as soon as Day 77: - Go to the burned down cabin that you found when hiking for the wires in Day 2 and open the stove; - Head West from the cabin and use your axe to find a chair and a tape; - Head to the fenced area, open the gate and check the inbox to find a bee.
Very disappointing walking simulator. It had few decent moments but overall I didn't like it. There were moments where there was a tension build up, where I was genuinely curious what would happen next, but the final reveal is just underwhelming. Additionally, movement in this game is horrible. Camera jumps every time you climb something (and you do it very often) and you can get stuck on invisible walls. I know it probably wasn't the devs main focus, but it was really annoying regardless. I also had situations where I wanted to interact with something, and my character would slide like 5 meters in a random direction, not interacting with the thing in the end. From how much I've seen this game being praised, I expected way more, especially with that price tag.
