Final Directive

Coming from someone who loves Nuclear Throne, this is another satisfying gunplay game. the swarming of enemies is immensely satisfying to cut down in half with a single weapon, and the smaller maximum ammo count gives you the feeling of peril that is called for. However, the accelerated movement really holds back on this being a fantastic game. Still good, however, and the 2 dollar price tag more than makes up for it.

This shooter has its appeal. Story is told via comics pages. A lot of weapons to choose from. There are some noticeable flaws: [list] [*] Aim and enemies are hard to distinguish from the background [*] Health system is confusing - the character has both health and lives, but there is no way to get more lives and you use "continue" constantly [*] Boss battle is annoying because [spoiler]you have to defeat boss every time your character dies in after-boss escape run[/spoiler]. Adding a checkpoint at the appropriate moment would improve the player experience greatly [/list] Good for its price

Honestly, I got the game because it was cheap but looked good. Obviously it's not gonna be a super duper easy game because that'd be a waste of £2. BUT, I like it. The story is not at it's best but the start and end are good! And the comics in the game are simply fantastic! So props to whoever took the time to draw them (I have to say I love the picture with the crew, that one just seems to go down well with me. As it makes you wonder what the heck happened to the crew). The BEST part however? Has to be the music, I was always jamming out to the music as it played whilst going on a rampage with those alien mutants. overall I give it a 8/10. Good music, amazing comics. Gameplay was alright but it got a bit repetitive (good thing the story was short enough for me to get through it without giving up on it). A good game that I didn't know I got. Glad I managed to finish it and was satisfied of the ending. Recommend the game if you don't want anything too serious and also comes with an endless mode if you are into something similar to Enter the Gungeon for $2, and will most likely will be at a discount along with the Oceans Day Bundle with a game that I also recommend.

TL;DR: Go ahead and try it if you have $2. Grade: B+ This game is far from perfect. Text on screen can be blurry or nearly impossible to read during battles. Bullets sometimes clip through the edge of walls. And it is obviously trying to capitalize on the popularity of Enter the Gungeon. That said, I really love this game. It is fun with very satisfying combat. The shooting is so enjoyable that despite dying repeatedly on levels (granted I don't have the best skills) I kept coming back to see if I could overcome it. This is a very challenging game, but not frustratingly so. And the guns are just so satisfying to use, paired with a substantial variety of enemies that force the player to change tactics (somewhat). The writing is also hilariously over the top and enjoyable. This is just a great little game that I know I will be coming back to repeatedly. Considering its price, if you think you might be interested at all in this game I would strongly recommend that you check it out.
