After getting use to the UI and weapons, the spells and weapons available let you feel good about split-second decision making when fighting tons of enemies at once. The attacks/spells are similar to DotA in a way -- they each have a fairly specific utility though they aren't extremely flashy. The levels are really colorful -- sometimes in a very over-the-top way, but they are generally pleasant to be apart of. Overall, the game starts out slow as they spoon-feed you the mechanics then picks up around the very end of Chapter 1 and Chapters 3/4 when the level mechanics change dramatically and the complexity of balancing this with combat becomes a tough task. Lots of content for the price although at times repetitive. Full disclosure: I am a friend of one of the people on the dev team
Experienced on Windows Mixed Reality & Oculus Rift
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program You can view my revised final review & gameplay here; https://youtu.be/EvyUyUgeQGo I did delete my old review as I felt it no longer accurately represented the game. The devs were responsive to the issue / bug I encountered in the game and my issue was resolved. I felt obliged to give this game another look. Honestly, I still have a lot of the same problems I had with the game in my original review. There is a very repetitive gameplay loop. I will get into that in a little bit, but first let me describe the game. This is an arena melee / magic wave shooter. You have full locomotion and snap turning. There are four spells / abilities to unlock. One is a hammer that you can swing or throw at enemies. There is also a red rock / boulder you can throw at enemies. You also have a magic speed ability that you can use defensively to get out of the way of enemies or offensively to run into and cause a good bit of damage to enemies. Lastly, there is a magical bow & arrow ability that you can use to shoot enemies with either flames or ice. Each ability is on a cool down. You grab them from the four corners of your HMD. There is usually an interlude at the start of the wave where this narrator talks. Unfortunately, as the game goes on, you will grow to hate this voice-over as she often repeats herself. Then enemies spawn out of thin air. You then run around killing enemies. While you do have to swing your hammer (or throw it) to damage enemies, it doesn't matter how hard you swing or throw it. Same thing with the boulder you throw. So the physics in this game are not good. Once you kill all the enemies the gameplay loop is repeated. There are some variations. One variation is that you only kill one type of enemy. The other enemies just keep coming back until you kill all the dragon summoners. Another variation is that you can push the enemies out of bounds. Unfortunately, that's not much variation and you'll soon just be put back into the same gameplay loop, except there are more enemies. There are also new enemies introduced and they bring different dangers. There are also some environmental dangers. However, the enemy AI is not very good so it really doesn't make much difference. You're still running around from one area of the map to the other, killing enemies along the way. At least the combo of the bow & arrow and the speed ability is pretty fun if nothing else. The graphics are not very good. I found most of the environments to be generally ugly. I found the 3d models and animations also to not be all that great. I did experience several issues along the way. Besides the issue with not being able to progress, I experienced several times where I fell off the map. Also, several lag spikes / frame rate drops. Lastly, I experienced this bug where I was pushed off the edge by an enemy, but I didn't die and was just stuck there. I had to quit to main menu and continue from the last checkpoint. In the end, this game isn't for me. I could see some people enjoying this game. In some respects, this game is better than your average wave shooter, but in other aspects, it is worse. I guess it just depends on whether you are having fun doing the gameplay loop. I did not. Rate 5/10. I'm over 2 hours and barely into the early stages of Chapter 2. So there is quite a bit of content here for those who like this type of game

Watch my video here https://youtu.be/QrWBC_CAiII Played using the Valve Index. Graphics are damn decent and the colours pop out at you. Somethings look flat and 2D but that is normal sometimes in VR. An example is the wheel magic, which looks very flat on one side. Most impressive is the monster. Their large and menacing! The physic and animations are not the best. This is noticeable on the tutorial lady show you how to play and telling you the story. She is all over the place with at some times hilarious animations. Audio is good. The voice is amateur, but funny. Many times the voice over will loop and drive you a little nuts. "Use the hammer to break the wall" is one. That dialogue will keep looping till you break that wall! Gameplay is nothing more than smashing, dodging and using magic on your foes. It seem boring, but it isn't. It is really addictive fun. There is 5 chapters and one Moore Royal (not got a clue what that is). Every chapter gets harder as you got. Overral is an OK game.

This is a fairly straight forward combat game, at least at first. You have 5 attacks – a hammer, a meteor, a spinning wheel which quickly moves you across the map and two spells you fire from a bow. The best part of the attack system is being able to pick what attack to use quickly. There are around 10 enemies you face (though I still haven't seen some from the trailer), some spell casters, some healers, some warriors. The same strategy of attacking, dodging, and attacking is pretty consistent versus most of them but things get more complex once you hit chapter 3. You often face 5-6 enemies at a time but there is a bullet time mechanic to help out. Most of the first chapter is pretty tame, as you only have two or three attacks, though it picks up at the end. The second chapter is more fun as you have the bow unlocked and always have an attack available. The third chapter is my favorite – you are dodging asteroids which break the ground under you as you kill enemies – it's all very intense and you die often, but it is pretty fun. I haven’t been able to beat this chapter yet but will come back to it as it’s a pretty fun experience. There is a story at the beginning but it’s somewhat forgotten about after the first level.
Pros: Very colorful, pleasant environment Different way to grab spells, which becomes natural over time Only played first chapter -- there are five. Ends with pretty cool puzzle/fight Cons: Loading takes forever Takes time getting use to the spell system
This game is wonderful! Mechanics wise it's wonderful! It's smooth, but it took me a min to figure out how to properly cast. I spent the first few tries just wandering around. I will play to complete all chapters now.
