Fields of Mistria is a cozy farming simulator, simillar to Stardew Valley in essense. In actuallity, it's also different in a good way in my opinion. It has magic, better systems that actually make the game feel cozy and relaxing unlike Stardew Valley which makes itself pretty much anxious to play without mods. Fields of Mistria has a pretty decent customization which can be further unlocked by doing quests and other stuff. Overall, I would highly recommend giving this game a try, you won't regret it. And personal opinion: this game is SO MUCH better than Stardew Valley in so many aspects.
very fun, very cute, very pastel my kind of game

a little bit too obsessed with this game but I am so glad I got early access when I did
Like Stardew Valley with magic and better combat and much more. I dare say what this might be even better. also it looks adorable. if you enjoy the genre, then you'll like this one too.
This game is so much fun! I love the similarities between this and Stardew Valley, but I think I like this game more. You can customize your character more easily, there are so many items to collect each season, and I love the mythical aspect of the whole thing. I find fishing way easier in this game as well, so that is a plus.
Fields of Mistria is a very polished farming/dating sim that pays very close attention to detail - where it matters. While much of the gameplay, music, and design are very obviously borrowed, the experience is undeniably wonderful from top to bottom. Every gameplay feature yields either satisfaction or wonder over frustration, creating a farming sim that puts other imitations to shame. Mistria's characters are not the deepest, yet exist as charming portraits within this unique enough world. Any weaknesses FoM has are buried underneath countless layers of effective, interesting, engaging, and fun gameplay.
fields of mistria is a true gem of its genre. there are tons of fun additions to the classic formula. the skill tree is fun, the art is adorable and the mines are engaging. if i have one nitpick is that way too many quests to advance the plot require hundreds of wood which means instead of having fun you have to chop 10000 trees. overall i highly recommend it
Avid cozy gamer here that occasionally suffers from cozy-game burnout, which I'm sure I'm not the first person to create that term. In my opinion, Fields of Mistria is an absolutely adorable joy. The characters are well-written and interactions are surprisingly enjoyable. Friday nights at the Inn are great, don't miss those. The "progress" pacing feels just right when it comes to task management, resource gathering, income generation, and town impact. Put another way, I feel in control of my own progress. Wholesome game that's genuinely cozy and fun and I highly recommend.
I'm riding the line on this one. I'm a spoiled Stardew Valley brat; it really spoiled me in terms of the genre and now I'm fussy and hard to please. As Stardew Valley exists, every farming sim like this is going to be inevitably compared to it as it currently is and probably will remain the gold standard. IMO, Concerned Ape earned every dime he made on sales. If you're going to be a contender, you've got to bring something fairly new and innovative to the table and make sure your genre standard mechanics are up to snuff. Does Fields of Mistria do this in my opinion... well, kind of. The art style is really solid, the dialogue is awesome and a bit less hokey than most games in the genre, the magic mechanic gives it a little distinction, the customization options are insanely thorough, and there's a decent variety of things to keep you busy. That said, there are some pretty glaring downsides. Festivals in particular need a complete overhaul. I'm not sure if more slowly unlock, but the ones I've done so far are completely lackluster and disappointing. Daily activities start boiling down to fetch quests drip fed once daily via the message board, and even quest activities are basically 'gather x stone and x wood and pay x money and x will open up'. Compared to the community center in Stardew Valley, which encouraged you to collect various things to unlock different rewards and new buildings, this game goes the infamous museum route where you just dump (almost) every new item you find off for cosmetic items in return. There's a wide variety of cooking recipes, but beyond gifts, it almost feels like there are too many and finding space for all the necessary ingredients leads to a lot of early clutter. Unlocking new buildings and animals is a very slow process, days feel a bit too short to make any meaningful impact - especially if you're trying to clear levels in the mine. I feel like it might be a pacing problem. Where Stardew Valley kind of let you progress at your own pace, the progress here feels more strictly mapped. As it stands, relationships are restricted in the current version, meaning no late romance or marriage to encourage relationship building. Right now, I'm just finding it hard to stay interested. But then, it's still in early access and, if I read right, the full release is right around the corner. All these issues could be addressed on the official release - and I'm really hoping they are because the game does have some charm. I've been waiting for another Stardew Valley caliber game to drop for years, and I'm really hoping this could be the one. Do I recommend Fields of Mistria? Sure, but with one catch: wait a couple more weeks for the official release. If the developers manage to patch even a few of my issues by then, for the price of this game, it will be well worth it.
