I love this game SOOO much! Its so cute and kinda refreshing because it doesn't drag on and feel dull like some other "farming sim" games! The art style is adorable! (>_<)

Love it <3
For years my girlfriend has been looking for a cozy game to play, as she didn't grow up with games like I did, and she wanted to have that experience too. I've been helping her find the ideal game for so long and she didn't click with any of them. That's when I came across Fields of Mistria. It seemed like the ideal game for her, so I gifted it to her. Well... Now she can't stop playing. It's been a few days only and she has already invested 30 hours in-game. She's been having so much fun, she insisted I should buy it! And so I did, and now... We can't stop playing. It's TOO good. It has everything you could expect from a cozy, beautifully designed, farm-sim game. We love the simplicity yet careful design in the pixel-art. We love the characters and the overall story. It is a fantastic game, and you should buy it! Semi-spoilers ahead as I review our favorite mechanics:
The mines are absolutely one of the most fun mechanics of the game. The dungeon-tower feel it gives as you progress feels very entertaining. There are days where I truly have to decide whether I want to spend hours trying to find my favorite characters to interact with them or to spend the whole day at the mines, exploring deeper and finding new levels. At first I wasn't a fan of how fast days went by, my girlfriend turned the option to make days go slower and she removed the oversleep penalty, but I decided to keep the settings intact to live the game at its fullest. Despite feeling like I have very few minutes to do all the activities I want to do per-day, it keeps me in a positive rush deciding what to do and what not to do, which in a way makes the game feel more exciting and thrilling. Will you make it back home in time? Or will you fall asleep in the middle of the Harvest Festival just to wake up late, at 10 AM the next morning when all your animals already ate without you? There's SO MANY RECIPES! We absolutely love that and they're not completely easy to get either, so it's always exciting to receive new recipes. There's also a LOT of items, bugs, artifacts to take into consideration, I feel relieved to know there's still plenty of hours for us to keep discovering more and more of this game. As I write this review I'm on Day 22 of Fall of the 1st Year in-game.
I feel I haven't even seen 15% of the game and I already absolutely love it! If you made it this far into my review, I truly recommend you buy the game: otherwise you're missing out!

Fun and cute! Similar to Stardew, of course, but enough difference to maintain high interest. Lots to explore.
Great gameplay, excellent story, and memorable characters. I'm only halfway through the first year, but I'm already enjoying this more than other well-known farming sims. My biggest issue is Steam Deck controller support. Despite the Steam Deck Verified badge, the experience is noticeably worse than playing with mouse and keyboard. The game already made full use of standard Xbox controller buttons, which unfortuantely isn't enough as some useful actions, like "Use Tool Repeatedly" don't have a default controller binding. The Steam Deck's extra inputs (L4/L5/R4/R5, touchpad, etc.) would be perfect for these, but the game doesn't recognize them for rebinding. At best, they can only emulate existing controller buttons, which defeats the purpose. The controller rebinding menu also seems buggy on Steam Deck. For example, rebinding 'Right Stick Up direction' to 'Next Toolbar Tab' simply doesn't work. Please let the game recognize the Steam Deck's extra buttons (L4/L5/R4/R5 and touchpad directions) for key binding, or at least allow Steam Deck keyboard/mouse emulated inputs to be assigned as a workaround (The game currently ignore all Steam Deck's keyboard/mouse input, emulated or otherwise)
