This game rocks its repetitive but this game is bloody worth it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love the story!!
it's fun so far
Fida Puti Samurai is a rougelike Doom clone, I mean, Boomer Shooter. You're playing a VR game fighting hoards of ladies. This is a fun game... for the first few hours. It really suffers due to being a rouge-like. There are 3 levels and each level containing 1 of 13 maps, the order of which gets shuffled each run. The layouts of these maps are not randomized, but what is randomized is the alleyways that connect the maps. Because this is a rouge-like you will likely die a lot, and when you do you will need to go through the same levels over and over again. It reminds me of a similar boomer shooter I played called STRAFE! Similarly it was a rouge-like where you would repeat the same levels over and over. The benefit FPS... I just realized it's name can be shorted to sound like the term FPS, clever. FPS avoids this issue by being snapier and having a more weapon variety than STRAFE. Each enemy you kill will drop a weapon. The starting weapons are pretty bad but as you progress the enemies will drop better weapons. The gameplay loop on its own isn't bad. The shooting is a lot of fun and you get some fun weapons to play around with! Multiple weapons have alt fires such as explosive rounds on the single barrel shotgun. A pitch fork that shoots a fire ball that does DoT. Your submachine guns are bullet guzzlers but wow do they sure can tear up enemies, as well as my speakers. I could go on about the myriad of weapons but you get my point. The gameplay is a blast, and the synthwave soundtrack does a great job at putting you in the zone. While I do find the game to be really fun, it can also be rather dull. You're fighting the same enemies, exactly where you expect them to be every time. And combat while fun doesnt evolve much. You can only upgrade weapons during a run but not always as you don't always have access to a shop. But once you do, you're met with a choice. Do I, purchase an upgrade or store my money at a checkpoint which allows me to purchase items at the shop easing future runs and marking a checkpoint allowing me to continue from this spot in the next run. Naturally I tend to choose the later, the former only being worthwhile if you can take the risk. I just dont find the upgrades to be all that worth while usually. They dont change your movement options other than the double jump. The weapons upgrades are for small gains like increasing accuracy or armor piercing. Oh, and these upgrades are attached to your one weapon, so dont lose it. Strangely this game allows you to pick up everything. You can carry the same weapon 20 over if you want it's strange why dont restrict you to one of a kind because you can be trying to pick up one weapon and grab another by mistake just because they're right beside each other. Another frustrating mechanic is the green wall of doom. It's a wall that presses in closer to you to incentivize you to play the level faster. Which I dont like! It's such an arbitrary reason to stop you from fully exploring each level because they want you to replay these levels and uncover a secret area on the next run since you'll be more inclined to want to try something different the next time. I do enjoy the game but it can get really exhausting, very quickly. Truth be told, I couldn’t complete a run. I would get to the final level and die on some ridiculously powerful group of enemies. When I would restart from my checkpoint, I lacked the resources needed to fight back and would quickly fail. And when you die, you go back to the first level all over again. This is why I got so bored so quickly! The loop of overcoming the level, getting to where I was, getting overwhelmed by the enemies and restarting back to square one drove me up a wall. I do enjoy this game, and do recommend it but I’d recommend it in short bursts or 3 run sessions as to avoid burning out.
Much better than anticipated
Very nice. This game is a tastefully risque (but no longer NSFW) boomer shooter that has a lot of roguelite elements. You have the option to enable random levels when exiting the hub/beginning the game, but the traditional gameplay loop revolves around navigating the same set of levels repeatedly, with each one being subtly rearranged (Items, enemies, etc.) - When you get to the end of the levels, you fight a boss or encounter an event that THEN adds an additional map to the end of the levels. So, the general progression will be: Enter level for the first time, kill a bunch of enemies followed by the boss, and get spat back to the Hub knowing that there's more at the end of that journey. While this is all occuring, you earn money that can be spent on starting weapons, cosmetics and even anime figurines to display in the hub that provide benefits. Simple format that is admittedly repetitive, but the low price, satisfying weapons, and presentation of the game keeps me entertained. While Strafe is hated for its randomized levels; this one is unapologetically hated for its handcrafted levels, but to me it feels like they pretty much made a better version of that game. It's surprisingly fun shooting cartoonishly lewd anime girls, I must say.
the randomization is bad and makes for an extremely poor roguelike, but the gameplay's fun enough that i can look past that. i think it would've actually been better as just a short shooter than the poor roguelite attempt.
Fi da Puti Samurai is strange and often bizarre cultural exchange between brazil and japan, with some duke nukem sprinkled in between. The gameplay can be fairly repetitive due to you going thru the same maps that are a bit linear, but it's not overall that bad. The guns are nice and you can even akimbo some of them.
Amazing game. Co-op please X3
