Fears of Glasses o-o World War is one of those rare indie projects that immediately stands out because of how unconventional its ideas are. Developed and published by Hede, the game takes the foundation established in the original Fears of Glasses o-o and transports it into a war-torn setting where survival is dictated not by firepower, but by emotional endurance. Instead of empowering players with weapons and abilities, it strips them down to their most basic instinct: the desire to stay alive when surrounded by danger. The result is a compact but memorable experience that feels more like an interactive examination of anxiety than a traditional war game. The title's defining mechanic revolves around the player's eyes. At the press of a button, the protagonist can open or close them, and this deceptively simple action becomes the heart of the entire game. Keeping your eyes open for extended periods eventually forces them shut, leaving you temporarily blind, while keeping them closed for too long causes fear to overwhelm the character. Add artillery strikes and battlefield hazards into the equation, and every decision becomes a gamble. It is an inventive system that encourages players to think about visibility and vulnerability in ways few games attempt. Rather than charging into conflict, players are constantly weighing whether it is safer to look ahead or remain in darkness for a few precious seconds. What makes the game particularly interesting is its interpretation of warfare. Most games set during conflicts focus on heroics, military tactics, or action-packed encounters. Fears of Glasses o-o World War instead presents war as an oppressive and frightening force. The protagonist is not portrayed as a larger-than-life soldier but as an individual trying to escape an environment that seems determined to break them mentally. This perspective gives the game an identity of its own and helps reinforce its themes of fear and helplessness. It is a refreshing contrast to the countless combat-focused titles available on Steam. The presentation remains modest throughout the experience, but it serves its purpose. The visuals lean toward simplicity, allowing the gameplay concept to remain the primary focus. Audio design arguably carries much of the atmosphere, with explosions and environmental sounds contributing to a lingering sense of unease. The moments when players are forced to navigate while blind are especially effective, as they create tension without relying on jump scares or graphic imagery. Tutorial information appearing through the lens of the character's glasses is another clever touch, helping maintain immersion while introducing mechanics naturally. That said, the game's limited scope is difficult to ignore. Since nearly everything revolves around a single mechanic, the experience can become repetitive once players fully understand its systems. Those expecting an expansive survival game or a lengthy campaign may come away disappointed. Fears of Glasses o-o World War is best approached as a short experimental title designed around a singular idea. Fortunately, it commits to that idea wholeheartedly, and there is value in seeing a developer pursue a unique vision without attempting to imitate more popular genres. In the end, Fears of Glasses o-o World War succeeds because of its originality. It transforms something as simple as opening and closing one's eyes into a meaningful gameplay mechanic and uses it to communicate the psychological toll of being trapped in a battlefield. While its minimalist design and repetitive structure prevent it from becoming a standout masterpiece, it remains an intriguing experience for players who appreciate unusual indie projects. Hede has delivered a game that may not appeal to everyone, but it undoubtedly leaves an impression long after its brief journey is over. Rating: 5/10

Unique Concept with Engaging Gameplay This game introduces a unique concept where you control a character wearing a gas mask, navigating through a battlefield, and trying to survive. I haven’t seen anything quite like it before, and it really stands out. The graphics are quite nice, providing a visually appealing atmosphere. The gameplay is engaging, and it never gets boring as you’re always on your toes, figuring out your next move. If you're into games with a bit of a survival edge and a fresh take, this one is definitely worth checking out.
