This could have been a very nice game, except that in its current version it is plagued by far too many bugs, making it impossible to enjoy it. It still feels like a beta, not quite ready for prime-time yet. Here are some of the problems I came across: - Loading the game takes a long time, even on my PC (Skylake, GTX980Ti, SSDs, etc.) This wouldn’t necessarily be a problem if it only happened when you start up the game. But if you want to reload a save, or if you accidentally die and you have to reload a save, it reloads the whole damn thing all over again, and you just have to wait, and wait... every time. - Default music volume was too loud and the soundtrack would start at the wrong time, overlapping some voice-overs and causing you to miss some important information. Solution: reload a save, and wait, and wait... - Occasional crash on save. Restart; and wait, and wait... - Occasional crash on load. Restart; and wait, and wait... - Green screen after load. Restart; and wait, and wait... - Ground textures disappearing when looking out through an open door, from inside a building. They usually reappear as soon as you step aside, but one time they did not, so I had to restart, and wait, and wait... - Some textures are misplaced and some vegetation appears to float in mid-air. - When pressing "E" once, doors and gates would fling open and immediately close again. Pressing "E" a second time will cause them to open normally. - Once opened, I had to "space bar" + "W" in order to pass through most doors and gates. With all these problems, I almost feel like I did more waiting than gaming, and these interruptions served to completely break the mood of the game and to make the entire experience more annoying rather than enjoyable. And that’s a pity too, because otherwise I liked the story. It could be a really nice mystery game, if they could fix these issues.

The game took several minutes to load using an SSD. When I finally got to play for a few minutes, I walked into a small pond and died, bringing up the loading screen again. Didn't bother waiting a second time. If that's supposed to be part of the humor in this game, it's not funny.
Fathers Island is one of the weirdest games you will ever play. A relatively short game in which you can look forward to an evening full of weird tales, odd characters, insanity and ...strangely relaxing gameplay. The game is offensive to many and that is what makes it so adorable! There is no place its afraid to go and while the story may be delivered in a minimalistic way, it manages to hold your attention. If you have no idea what this is: Picture an exploitation movie version of "Dear Esther"... less introspective and elegic drama and more bestiality! Do note that this is a 3d adventure and not a shooter like previous homegrown games Just try it! Its currently 5 bucks...so you won't have to make any tough choices like "Do I get this game or a hooker" as you do with every new EA release...you dirty bastard! :D
First you take a big scoop of Dear Esther Narritive Exploration as a base, Add a big splash of Deadly Premonition Narmcharm story telling, and top it off with the cherry of Awfulsome EDF jank... and you got yourself a good time.
Could never get it to run. Waste of money. I wouldnt bother.
very lagging .. kept getting errors couldnt even get in the game
Follow our Curator Group for more reviews
Father's Island is a shockingly bad game. It has extremely low production value and feels barebones and empty. The core "gameplay" is walking between assorted houses while cutscenes and audio clips play, often times layering over each other if you move too fast. Somewhat interesting to play if you like watching bad movies, but it still gets boring fairly quickly. 1/10
Visit our website for more in-depth reviews and recommendations
