I'm not sure how all the other reviews are so positive, perhaps they're all idiots or just have extremely low standards. This game is fully Pay 2 Win, the developers are also liars. They tell you that you will queue with real players but instead put you with bots! Now personally I feel it insults my intelligence to have this mediocre company think they can pull one over on me and trick my dopamine receptors into dinging off coz I'm winning. No, I'm not some neanderthal who can be manipulated into believing I'm playing a well designed video game made with passion and integrity simply by putting a lot of flashy gambling systems and placing me against brain dead bots. Honestly as someone who's extensively played all games in the genre my opinion is that if you enjoy the competitive strategic skill based element from auto battlers then this is not the game for you, on the other hand if you love badly designed cop out pay 2 win mobile games full of insidious gambling mechanics designed to play havoc on your dopamine system then go ahead and enjoy. @Devs I hope you read this review and feel at least a modicum of shame, you could've made a game with passion, instead you decide to take the disgusting route of barely making a game just so you can have a gambling p2w shop taking advantage of those who have issues with mental health. (Whales) Edit: Played a couple more games just to get a couple examples of the anti-competitive/strategy game design they've picked. One glaring issue being the turn timer, turns are incredibly short, having only a handful of seconds to take your turn and having an animation for rerolling the shop that literally limits the amount of rerolls in a turn you can do, with some bullsh*t animation designed to appeal to addicts rather then making the game a fair and balanced strategic experience. The entire ui is designed awfully with strategic competitive play in mind, important information on statistics is either not there or hard to access, and being the fact a huge chunk of the skill in these games comes from counting cards and playing the odds correctly that's unacceptable. You can say it's just early access if you want but it's very clear from the ground up that their game design philosophy is money first, good game last.

Fate Arena just launched yesterday, and I'm already 7 hours in...that's usually a pretty good sign. This game follows the blueprint of most autochess type games, allowing you to battle for gold, purchase/upgrade units, organize unit formation, etc. There are a few things that set this game apart from the rest: (also TLDR verdict below)
Potential Pay to Win Mechanics
This feels like the elephant in the room, so let's get it out of the way. This game has a way to buy gold/gems with real money to open chests, which in turn give you stronger units. I will speak a bit more on how that works in the next topic, BUT this is the only part of the game that I REALLY don't like. This company has another successful game (ZombsRoyale) which employs the same system, but the gain is purely cosmetic, HOWEVER they just received financial backing from Supercell (Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, etc) so maybe they are moving to more of a p2w setup. Obviously the game is in beta, let's hope for balance sake that they move to a cosmetic only model, OR limit the # of upgrades you can buy with cash.
Out of game unit progression
When you win games, you will gain gold and eventually unlock chests and cards that will allow you to upgrade individual units. Everything starts as a Level 1 with base stats, and require a certain number of cards to upgrade HP and DMG. SO, theoretically you could be in a game with level 5 units against someone with level 1, and you would have an edge. This is done COMPLETELY outside of the upgrade mechanic in game as well, so a tier 1 level 5 unit SHOULD have an advantage over a tier 1 level 1 unit. I'm not certain how high the unit level goes overall, but I currently have a single level 4. I could see this getting out of hand if an tier 1 level 7 is beating a tier 2 level 1 unit....as that would seem to punish the core game mechanic and reward time/money commitment. If the money aspect was removed altogether maybe I would feel a bit better about this, but again I think it's worth stating that I've never felt outmatched unit to unit. This is something to keep an eye on as the game progresses.
Balance / Gameplay
When you first start out, you are given a limited number of units and a small health pool so that you can learn the game faster. Games hardly take anytime at all...and if you've played any autochess games before you'll feel like it's over before it really started. As you progress you will unlock new arenas which bring new heroes as well as an increased health pool to work with. Essentially as you move forward, the meta become more complex and games last longer because 1) the additional health and 2) it is less likely to create tier 3 units due to the sheer number of units available. So far, it's hard to have a good gauge on how the units balance out. I'm starting to see a few things that seem OP...for instance, getting 6 of one kind of unit (referred to as synergies....archers would be an example) seems to be strong right now, but it would take more time to have a real grasp on how the meta plays out fully. One thing I REALLY appreciate is that the devs include some preset builds to help you synergize faster, so you don't need to be a god-tier theory-crafter to be lethal...just grab a premade build and go to work. I've only tested a few premade builds, but I've taken 1st each time when sticking with them.
Aesthetics
I don't want to make a huge point of this as you can determine for yourself whether you like it or not, but it's worth noting that it does have a unique feel in the autochess space. Everything from the menus and UI, to the character and level design fits the cel shading / cartoonish art style well.
TLDR Verdict
Overall I'd say this is a great beta launch...definitely worth checking out if you're interested in the genre. The meta seems interesting, and I've only encountered one small bug to this point. Let's hope Pay to Win doesn't wreck this game...there is a lot of potential here.
it's fun but needs better animation, and player not bot 8/10

I will say this, The game is fun don't get me wrong but the fact you are pretty much playing with bots every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game is just stupid. Oh and the Fact that you can upgrade your cards outside of the game puts in a P2W aspect of it. People say you don't have to pay, yes thats true you don't have to but if you add a systems like this its P2W and yes atm you can win 1st like 95% of your games because all your playing with is BOTS but when its come to going up vsing real players then this P2W factor will matter alot.
great game! just needs to be updated by yang and the other developers. the mobile version has been updated by the developers and was given a battle pass and a new character with new packs that look like card packs and others [reference > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L0dEH2AJak&t=90s]. it is a great game all around but needs to be updated. like for gods sake Endgame had help FROM SUPERCELL and they just don't update the game now without an explanation. ALSO people cant play mobile since its not allowed in the USA or other countries besides the Netherlands/Holland with a VPN or actually going there (or a apk download which is sketchy and not worth). P.S. {1} to all u guys saying its pay to win, its literally not. the chests you can buy from the shop SUCKS and the medallion chest is much better which you get for FREE [reference for medium chest in shop > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zprjZa2YS30]. this game is one of the greatest games that ive played (which is a controversial opinion). The developers need to get there act together and update pc or have it not blocked to play on mobile. P.S. {2} this game had SO much backing going into it. it had the backing from the Zombs Royale community who even made CLANS and CLAN CENTERS for competing, off the bat before it EVEN IT RELEASED [reference for the clan centers, both servers were deleted heres one of them > https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRgU9hm5xuAwBxFXtC1p6-Q]. like come on. the developers just gave up or changed focus since Endgame later made Betrayal instead, which originally had elements from Fate Arena used such as the betrayer had the assassin symbol as its symbol. also the invite sound is the same. it seams that they gave up to make a more "friendly" game and made a game like Among Us to stay relevant. [reference for betrayal > 1. https://discord.gg/wTyvcEefuN (discord) 2. https://betrayal.io/ (site)]. P.S. {3} YANG UPDATE THE GAME!!! [referance for yangs twitter > https://twitter.com/YangCLiu (spam him, jk)] also the sound track SLAPS HARD BALLS [ex.] = reference link (ex.) = further thoughts {ex.} = P.S. 1, 2 and 3
