Makes it a breeze to run a game. I'm running Dungeon Crawl Classics for a group of friends in other countries, including three players new to ttrpgs and one who has never played a video game, and it's going well. Also using the Star Trek Captain's Log module for solo.
A very useful tool for playing online games of Dungeons & Dragons - recent changes mean almost everything is automated once the characters have been created and given their weapons/spells etc.

Cant even get it to install where I want it to,
This is my favorite VTT. There is a learning curve to the program but there are tons of tutorial videos online to help you and once you become comfortable with the program it truly is a breeze to run and play TTRPGs with it.
This is a great way to enjoy DnD games with people all over the world. Fantasy Grounds will keep track of your party's character sheets, story notes, images and maps. It lets you roll dice, run encounters and more. There's a lot of automation built in - or you can do everything manually if you like. Highly recommended for the low low price of free!
The ease the platform provides for friends too game together from all parts
Like many other tools and games, this is the tool to use if your friends use Fantasy Grounds. I use Linux, so some of the crankiness may be because of that, where it doesn't like being moved between screens or doesn't seem to know where my mouse pointer is until I fullscreen the program. Even without that, I feel they could and should have written a program that's usable, not a program that makes sure every menu, icon and feature is decorative at the cost of being hard to read and use. The UI is pretty at the cost of being functional or straightforward.
Don't buy the GM guide if you play AD&D
I would not recommend this VTT. Fantasy Grounds is powerful, but it absolutely fights you every step of the way. 1. The UI actively resists you. Non‑intuitive sharing. Hidden menus. Difficult to find things. It’s powerful, but it’s not friendly. It feels like a database from the 2008. 2. Sharing and onboarding players is difficult. Getting connected was okay. Helping players add their characters was painful. If something is broken or was done incorrectly, there is no easy way to correct the situation. I'm sure it's all possible, but it feels like a scavenger hunt to figure out what to click and in what order. 3. Initiative and combat rounds take too long because the players are fighting the UI. A VTT should speed up combat. Unless everyone is trained, combat is slow. 4. The learning curve is steep. I am sure many of these issues would be smoothed over if I understood the software better, and that is the main issue. If you are okay with a steep learning curve and digging through wiki's, videos, and searching the web, I'm sure you can get it to work. I'm going to look for a better VTT that is not as demanding.
The launcher loads but once I press check for updates it wont load. Frustrating when my group are all playing and I cant update.
