Solid game for a free to play. It offers replayability in the form of the game never bein' the same as the last run. It is quite addictin' to make ur way down the platforms. I didn't make past the circle platforms below tho. Personal goal to be met there. No reason not to check it out. Gameplay Impressions: https://youtu.be/vDyJVvYZiTE
"Fallen: Into the Darkness" is a rather mediocre experimental first person platformer with a simple, and frankly boring premise. It's less platforming and more controlled "falling" down a hole (at least they got the title right). I'm not sure if this is an asset flip, but it's one of those cases where the assets just look much better than the rest of the quality of the game... a glaring inconsistency. There's no evidence, but as always, the biggest problem with asset flips besides the plagiarism is the deplorably low quality of the other aspects of the game, and even if the game assets are genuinely created for the game, the quality of the rest of the game is indistinguishable from that of asset flips. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
Despite all odds I did enjoyed a lot Fallen: Into the Darkness and I didn't rage quit and uninstall it (as the developer suggests that we may be tempted to). Yes the game is hard, specially being it is a procedural generated platformed is impossible to memorise patterns to follow. But it was a really enjoyable experience that keep me busy for a few hours. I recommend to everyone. After all this is just a freebie! So grab it and support the developer!
This game has a lot of potential, especially for something that's free-to-play. However, there are a few key issues holding it back, particularly with the controls. One of the biggest problems is the inability to customize key bindings. You're stuck with the standard 'wasd' setup if you're on a keyboard, which is fine for QWERTY users but frustrating for those of us with an AZERTY keyboard (which I do since I'm not from the US). This can be changed by changing your key-bindings in the settings of your pc itself, but I ended up using a controller instead. However, even that had its own problems. Sprinting by holding R3, for example, quickly makes my thumb sore. Another issue is how little control you have over your movement while falling. This might be an intentional design choice to make the game harder, but it ends up making certain sections, like the glowing electrified fences with holes, almost impossible to get through. When the holes are on opposite sides of the chamber—which happens often—it feels less like a test of skill and more like a game of luck. I’ve never been able to get past those fences. That said, I kind of wanted to keep playing the game. There are some elements that I like here. The flashlight mechanic, with its battery slowly draining, adds a constant sense of urgency that really works well for the atmosphere. The deep voice you keep hearing and the light-person you use to recharge the flashlight are intriguing elements, though I haven’t played far enough to know if there’s any backstory or explanation for them. Those little mysteries definitely add some curiosity to the experience. And even though it's quite hard, I kept pressing restart to try again. Overall, it’s a promising game that I’d probably spend more time on if the controls were less frustrating and if you had more control over your character while falling. Someone with more patience and skill might get further than I did, but for now, it feels like a game with potential that’s held back by some rough edges.
to hard for me
