Gute Geschichte mit eintönigen Spielmechaniken. Trotzdem interessant.
mop stuck in my hand.
Fahrenheit has a great story, but rough gameplay
The story was easily the best part of the game. It has a really interesting mystery, a dark vibe, and that cinematic feeling Quantic Dream is known for. And honestly, it makes sense. Quantic Dream has been making great story-based games for the last 20 years, so no wonder one of their older games also had a good story and a strong idea behind it. But the gameplay is where the game starts to fall apart. I get what they were trying to do with the interactive movie style, quick-time events, and different actions during scenes, but it still doesn’t feel that good to play most of the time. A lot of it feels clunky, outdated and annoying. The voice acting is not bad, especially for a PS2-era game. Some lines feel a bit awkward, but overall it works fine and doesn’t ruin the experience. Overall, I liked the story and I respect what the game was trying to do, but the gameplay really holds it back. I would still recommend it if you like story-based games, but don’t go in expecting great gameplay. All in all, I would give this game a 5/10. playing with a joystick might make the gameplay feel a bit better so keep in mind
game would be good, if it was playable. Not optimized at all, you have to force the resolution with alt+enter into fullscreen otherwise it wont. It will always crash in some certain cutscenes so it is a gamble if you have to replay 10 minute gameplay for the 8th time. Also whenever it crashes there is a crashlog from the developing stage of the game, mind you this games original is older than me, where if you click anything from the options the game either crashes or freezes your pc. You can actually realize that the game was never tested before it was listed on steam. Honestly a shame and scam.
The controls... how in hell can we get games with controls like that.
The same as Heavy Rain, but slightly better so that it's not unbearable, but still. To move the character, the 4 arrows on the keyboard are okay, BUT QUITE NOT OKAY, as only 3 are meant to be used. Because the bottom arrow if clicked once will make the character switch direction from up to down and vice versa. But if you maintain it, it will keep switching infinitly. While if you click or maintain the up arrow it will make you move forward no matter what... So the bottom arrow is unusuable, or feel really bad to use. Then the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ QTE. It's not as disgusting as in Heavy Rain was, but it's still really really bad. I choose to play with my mouse and keyboard, and most QTE requires both my hands on the keyboards, while the rest of the game is being played with the mouse AND keyboard, I HAVE 2 HANDS not 3 XD. Then the camera is sick. In the tutorial they tell you left or right click of the mouse, being hold, allows to move around the camera. But that is only true in certain areas. While in others it doesn't work at all. What it does instead, is it requires a click but no holding the click, and it will simply swap the view, like swaping camera inside a room. WHILE your character movement depends on the view slash camera angle. This is as messy as Heavy Rain. But less, because at least I choose when the camera view change. Unlike this Heavy Rain where I couldn't climb certain stairs or move straight in certain corridor because the camera kept switching direction making my character movement also switching direction, making me not moving at all. I always talk about Heavy Rain here because it's really close actually. Yet this game is a bit better in terms of controls. At least I can play the game. Or kinda. BUT godamn how is this even possible to make games with controls like that... Camera like that... Having to maintain the mouse click and move in a certain direction to make an action A or B or C. Why not using the godamn keyboard with the 50 plus keys there is on a keyboard... Or just having 4 buttons to choose an action to do and it's perfect. Yet, this is still better than the 12-16 keys needed in Heavy Rains to handle the hellish QTE in the world. I know these are very old games. So maybe this is acceptable. But still. It's suppose to be a walking simulator, in which you interact with things around. Life is strange is perfect in that regard, and even if it came way after, I don't think making the movement & camera like it was impossible 10 years before. Anyway. I'm frustrated, so much, because I want to love playing Heavy Rain or Fahrenheit, as I am fond of dectective & choices & walking simulator & dark rich story. But these controls makes the game nearly unbearable to play. DO A MOVIE INSTEAD THEN. Everything is perfect, story, writing, choices, level design, colors, voice acting, music, maybe not UI & SFX tho. BUT CONTROLS! It's like having to play mario but you have to blink your eyes to play the game. Right eye blink move forward, left eye blink move backward, two eyes blinking jump, maintain the eyes closes a bit longer to make a bigger jump... ahh anyway. Why do I bother. These horrible controls makes the game playable once: you finish the main story if you can survive & bear the controls, and then you don't ever touch the game again. Which is too bad! Such a waste to have so many wonderful stuff in a game, being ruined by the controls. I leave a positive review because everything but the controls was wonderful. But if I had to pay the full price for it, it would be a negative review. Games can be really really bad on everything BUT the controls, there is nothing worse than a game you can bearly play. Making me think about the QTE in Tomb Raider & Tomb Raider Rise, won't be talking much about these here, but hell I still remember the pain it was to make them working, wasting literraly 4 hours of my life, in total, for having played these 2 Tomb Raider games a few times, to a total of like 100 hours cumulated maybe. 4 hours wasted is not much yeah, but 4 hours repeating the 5 seconds micro cinematic/QTE scene whatever... Ah, controls. I'm done talking. Ah... and I just soft lock the game, or should I say freeze it by doing an ALT+TAB. Egh... save lost, wonderful. The voice acting, in french for me here, was delightfull. Having to hear the french voice of Keanu Reeves, Lara Croft, and especially Samuel L Jackson, is a wonderful thing deserving a positive review on its own. Or maybe not, but that's really delightfull to hear anyway. If you love detective game, go for this game without a doubt. But if you can, avoid the keyboard+mouse. -----------------------------------------------
That's where I should have leave this very long review.
But after the interrogatory scene, I have to give a negative review. So basically the interrogatory scene, it's a room, 2 actions to do before the interrogatory starts to remove evidence. Then it begins, between most questions there is a QTE, horrible QTE, but that's what QTE are. AND IF YOU DO THEM ALL SUCCESSFULLY YOU LOOSE THE GAME! You have like 7-8 QTE to do, and 3 of them even suceeded will reward you with negative points (making your stress/life bar close to the 0 which gives you the game over if it reaches 0. First -10, then two times -20, and then it's game over). I tried 4 times in a row a different combination of answers in this interrogatory, and always ended up losing the -10 -20 -20 points with the QTE and then get the beautiful game over screen. I wanted to stop playing and leave this review as it is to this line but: I replayed the interogatory a fifth time, without giving a damn about the QTE, completly failing them all, and I literraly got 0 negative points, I answer anything and didn't mind at all, and passed the level successfully. No game over for refusing to roleplay? I just afk in front of the 8 QTE, and this time no game over? Is this a joke? I even got an achievement for completing the interogatory without failing it. This is... I'm speechless. What's the point of forcing the players to go through painful QTE, if in the end they make you loose the game if you do them right. I've never seen that. -> I've had games like Heavy Rain where the QTE requires to click on 12-16 different key of my keyboard, AND have them sometimes visually overlaps which makes them impossible to read. -> I've had games like Tomb Raider & Tomb Raider Rise where the QTE doesn't show on the screen properly, and you have to repeat 50 times before the right symbols or the correct User Interface shows up and works when you click the buttons, to finally make me pass them (unskippable), I even had once to quit and restart the game so that it would be shown properly and then I could play through them. -> But THIS!? And there is more: before the interogatory scene, there was a level where you are in the protaganist apartment, and in order to survive and dodge you entire stuff trying to murder you, one by one, you literraly have 50 plus QTE in a row, like I literraly had to play 5 minutes straight of QTE. Both hands on the keyboard, and I just can't see the game even though there is not much interesting things to see there as it's just apartment stuff flying towards you. Maybe it was way longer than 5minutes, I don't know... It felt endless. I want to know the end of the story. Why does these detective games have to be so unbearable to play? Why QTE? Is there a game where there is a good implementation of QTE? I'll try to finish it while I'm at it. But then it's going to my hidden shelf on Steam. But you have better use of your time than this. Go watch a letsplay of this game if you like detective game, but don't touch it yourself unless you really enjoy spanking yourself with cactus.
no matter what i do half the times qte events with controller i failed it takes me so long to complete each ch with ♥♥♥♥ qte in between and most annoying was the interogation i kept dying because i was doing qte and monster attacked me turns out you dont have do qte there i wasted one hour on investigation.i have never hated a game this much before.
O começo do jogo é excelente. ⭐ Nota: 7,5/10
