this game is absolutely incredible, ive done a bit of research when it comes to kovarex, and when it comes to the "unjust pricing" (the pricing is actually incredible).
im gonna go in and explain why the pricing practice is actually quite beneficial for the consumer, or at least for me.
i bought ark survival evolved quite a long while ago, when it was 80 dollars and every dlc was 20 dollars, i had the money and so i bought it, now recently when looking at the store page its now only 22 dollars, which is an insane price drop, and all the dlc are now FREE, which for a consumer nowadays, thats pretty good, but its not good for me. The price drop has functionally meant that ive WASTED hundreds of dollars for products THAT ARE NOW FREE, there was no indication that these products would one day become free and because of that i have lost money.
When it comes to factorios price increase, i think its reasonable, it is a game that has little to no competition, the price has not increased beyond the cost increase of inflation and there are no sales, which means that no one misses out. The arguements that support the idea of a sale for these games is that its good for the consumer and the producer, but if factorio ever gets a sale, it stops being a product worth its price, it becomes as valuable as its sale, the same way that other games that get massive sales stop being worth their original price. Is it fair on the consumer that some people pay less than others, simply because they purchased it at a different time? i dont think so.
I think that this price practice should honestly be used more, not to increase prices, but to lower them. If a game regularly goes on sale for 20% or 30% then the game is not worth its original price, and from a logical point of view, minimal consumers will purchase when there isnt a sale, but if the original price was only 70-80% of what it would be today, and it didnt go on sale?
people would not feel like they miss out, or have to "panic buy" when there is a really good deal for a game.
This is not an argument against the concepts of games going on sale however, i think that games should go on sale sometimes, but i think that its reasonable that **SOME** games get a little more expensive over time, just to adjust to inflation and continue to pay developers.
Now back to some other points about factorio itself, its a game that i have put 100s of hours into and i think its an incredible game.
HOWEVER, im sure there are many people that wont like it, no matter how good it is. AND thats okay :3
Mods are actively supported, and there are many active community members. if a change has been made or something doesnt work the way you want, chances are there is a mod to revert a change or to make it work how you want.
achievements could be considered a problem? but the whole point of achievements is that they are supposed to be hard to get.

can be addiciting if you struggle with stopping a task.
