Fascinating game where you are a eldritch creature in a cave influencing the emotions of two people in it.
Psychological Horror at its best. The random nature of the game makes playing it a weird experience. Remind me of a Bag of Milk inside a Bag of Milk... For this price you can't go wrong.
More than meets the eye. Is a game all about experimentation. Chose some option, and see what happens to the poor victims. A lot of twisted fun to be had.
3 Bucks and so far seems worth it, went through one run but the variables seem like there is a lot of replay value. I feel its worth the price of admission if you like text based, multiple choice's and endings, I like the simple yet dark art style!
Eyes Over Us is an unconventional indie title that deliberately rejects traditional gameplay structures in favor of an abstract, psychological, and deeply unsettling experience. Developed and published by Curse Box Studios, the game places the player in the role of a mysterious, otherworldly observer rather than a direct participant. You are not a hero, commander, or survivor, but an unseen presence exerting influence over two human subjects trapped within a strange experimental framework. From the outset, the game makes it clear that clarity and comfort are not its goals; instead, it invites players into a disorienting space where control is indirect, meaning is fragmented, and interpretation becomes part of the experience. The core concept revolves around observation and manipulation rather than direct action. You influence the mental and emotional states of the two characters under your watch, guiding their thoughts, fears, and impulses through abstract interventions. This indirect form of control is central to the game’s identity, making every decision feel ambiguous and morally uncertain. Actions do not always produce immediate or predictable results, and the consequences of your influence may unfold gradually or manifest in unexpected ways. This sense of uncertainty reinforces the game’s psychological tension, encouraging experimentation while also fostering a constant feeling of unease. Narratively, Eyes Over Us embraces ambiguity and non-linearity. There is no single, clearly defined storyline presented upfront; instead, the narrative emerges through fragmented scenes, shifting mental states, and procedural variations that change from one playthrough to the next. The game relies heavily on suggestion and symbolism, asking players to piece together meaning from incomplete information. Themes of control, suffering, identity, and cosmic indifference permeate the experience, often evoking a Lovecraftian sense of insignificance in the face of unseen forces. For players willing to engage with abstract storytelling, this approach can be deeply thought-provoking, though those seeking a clear plot or resolution may find it deliberately opaque. The visual presentation plays a crucial role in sustaining the game’s unsettling atmosphere. The use of rotoscoped human figures contrasted against stark, minimalist environments creates a constant sense of discomfort. Movements feel slightly unnatural, reinforcing the idea that something is fundamentally wrong with the world you are observing. Rather than relying on graphic imagery or jump scares, the game generates tension through motion, framing, and repetition. This restraint makes the experience feel more like a living nightmare than a conventional horror game, where unease lingers even in moments of apparent calm. Sound design further enhances this oppressive tone. Audio cues are often subtle and unsettling rather than loud or dramatic, with ambient sounds, distorted effects, and eerie silences working together to keep players on edge. Music is used sparingly, allowing the emotional weight of scenes to emerge naturally. Combined with the visuals, the soundscape reinforces the feeling that you are intruding upon something fragile and deeply personal, rather than simply progressing through a series of objectives. Mechanically, the game is intentionally opaque, offering minimal guidance and encouraging players to discover systems through experimentation. Procedural elements ensure that no two sessions play out exactly the same, reinforcing replayability while also deepening the sense of unpredictability. This design choice strengthens the game’s themes but can also be a barrier to entry. Eyes Over Us demands patience and a willingness to accept confusion as part of the experience, making it less accessible than more traditional strategy or narrative titles. Ultimately, Eyes Over Us is best understood as an interactive psychological experiment rather than a conventional game. Its strength lies in its willingness to take risks, blending strategy, narrative abstraction, and horror into a singular vision that prioritizes atmosphere and emotional impact over clarity or comfort. It will not appeal to everyone, particularly players looking for direct control, clear objectives, or traditional progression systems. However, for those drawn to experimental indie projects, surreal storytelling, and games that challenge the boundaries of player agency, Eyes Over Us offers a haunting and memorable experience that lingers long after the screen fades to black. Rating: 6/10
I was intrigued by the description but not by the gameplay. I played two instances, "losing" the first time and quickly "winning" the second. When I felt no sense of accomplishment for haphazardly "beating" the game the second time I decided to ask for a refund. Sure you can replay it however many times to reach alternative conclusions, but I have no desire to do so.
