Just completed my solo run and about 75% of the way through co-op with a buddy at the time of writing this Fantastic game so far, and so glad I randomly stumbled upon this during the TPS Fest sale. Starting a run, you're thrown into the game world with no info beyond a brief bit of lore explaining that you're searching for a missing science team. Beyond that, everything is a complete mystery, and it works so well in the games favour. You are John Exome, Corpo Mercenary, either alone or with your buddies, and that's all that matters. Combat feels nice, the guns handle well and each weapon is completely viable for the entirety of the game so far. Exploration is encouraged and is core to the experience, with points of interest scattered across the map to find, each one offering some form of reward for finding it. What really sets this apart, though, is the atmosphere itself. You and/or your team are alone and isolated, with basically zero intel on the operation, and uncovering everything as you progress your list of tasks is so satisfying. I strongly recommend avoiding guides and going into this one as blind as possible if you're able to. Beyond the exploration, the soundscape is fantastically designed to keep you on edge at times and really adds to the experience too. Lots of potential on an already pretty good start to this game, looking forward to the future and excited to see where RudeFrog (more like PoliteFrog, gotem) takes this one.
I first picked this game up a couple of years ago, and while I found it very entertaining, I thought it was hampered by overly aggressive enemies that wrecked me when they got to close range, and the lack of an escape when things got that close. Having come back to it, they've fixed those problems and I can now fully recommend this game! Glad to see how much you've improved!
first, I think its was okay then I tried to play this game and it's fanastic. Ignore what people's complaining.
Developed and published by RudeFrog Studios, EXOME is an Early Access cooperative science-fiction survival shooter that merges exploration, resource gathering, and intense combat into a single experience. Set within a mysterious forest overtaken by an alien corruption, the game places players in the role of an operative investigating the disappearance of a research expedition. What begins as a search-and-rescue mission gradually unfolds into a desperate fight for survival against increasingly dangerous extraterrestrial lifeforms. Rather than relying on lengthy cinematic storytelling, the game encourages players to uncover the mystery through exploration, environmental clues, and continuous progression, giving the world an intriguing sense of discovery that complements its unsettling atmosphere. The game's strongest feature is its ability to balance open-world exploration with constant survival pressure. Every journey into the forest offers opportunities to discover new locations, collect valuable resources, and uncover weapon schematics that strengthen future expeditions. The environment feels appropriately hostile, with dense vegetation, eerie lighting, and signs of alien influence creating a convincing sense of isolation. Built with Unreal Engine 5, EXOME presents attractive visuals that enhance the tension without overshadowing gameplay. Exploration never feels like a simple walk through the scenery because danger is always nearby, encouraging players to remain alert while searching for equipment and supplies that may determine whether they survive the next encounter. Combat revolves around defending yourself against relentless waves of hostile alien creatures while steadily improving your arsenal. Rather than handing players powerful equipment from the beginning, the game rewards progression by allowing them to unlock new weapons, craft better gear, and acquire stronger technology through exploration. Resource management plays an important role, making ammunition and supplies valuable commodities that must be used wisely. Enemy encounters become increasingly challenging over time, and the dynamic difficulty scaling helps maintain an enjoyable level of challenge whether playing solo or alongside friends. This creates a satisfying gameplay loop where exploration directly contributes to combat effectiveness, making every successful expedition feel meaningful. Cooperative multiplayer is where EXOME shines brightest. Supporting teams of up to four players, the game encourages communication, teamwork, and strategic coordination during both exploration and combat. Working together to defend objectives, revive teammates, and manage resources creates memorable moments that are difficult to replicate alone. However, solo players are not forgotten, as the entire experience remains fully playable without companions. Playing alone transforms the experience into a slower, more suspenseful survival adventure where careful planning becomes even more important. This flexibility allows the game to accommodate different playstyles without sacrificing its core mechanics. Progression extends beyond simply acquiring stronger weapons. Players continuously unlock new schematics, improve equipment, and customize their loadouts to better handle increasingly dangerous threats. Although the current Early Access version does not yet offer the depth of content expected from a fully completed release, the existing systems establish a solid foundation for future expansion. The developers have outlined plans for additional maps, improved enemy behaviors, expanded weapon progression, more equipment, achievements, and further gameplay refinements. The inclusion of built-in feedback and bug reporting tools also demonstrates an active commitment to community involvement, suggesting that player feedback will continue shaping the game's evolution throughout development. As it currently stands, EXOME already delivers a compelling blend of survival, exploration, and cooperative action despite still being a work in progress. Some players may wish for more story content, greater mission variety, and additional polish before considering it complete, but the existing experience clearly showcases the potential of its design. The atmosphere remains consistently engaging, the combat is rewarding, and the progression system provides strong motivation to continue exploring the dangerous world. For players who enjoy cooperative survival shooters with mysterious science-fiction settings and meaningful long-term progression, EXOME offers an entertaining and promising experience that is likely to become even stronger as development continues. Rating: 7/10
really cool game but pleaseeee bring back dx11 support my pc is old and i like this game
Map feels empty early game, dose get more full later on but it's kinda to late bc by the time the bears and wolfs start spawning you have already maxed out what you want.... also game is really hard to beat with 1 or 2 people.
I haven't played much, but the bit I have I gotta say this game is really fun. Just came out with a big update too so I can't wait to play some more. I hope in the future more happens when you go out exploring the map other than the occasional wild animal attack. There's so much map :] Keep up the great work dev!
The game is a expensive tech demo and is one of the many games in the early access graveyard. If the game was like 90 percent off I would get otherwise no.
fantastic atmosphere, good game!
