I just recommend
TL;DR: a straight-forward 2-4 hour delight of Super Metroid-esque game (finally MORE of this stuff, I've been starved for it, especially on the PC) with its own story and art style. Fairly easy gameplay with more emphasis on exploration, upgrade finding and an interesting story. I enjoyed it plenty. Its slightly jank in how movement feels, combat feels spammy/cheap, some upgrades are more gimmicky than useful, some secrets/100% completion requires annoying wall-shagging and its fairly short as a whole, but for what it does its DEFINITELY worth the experience. Good game! Massive props for using WASD+Mouse for moving and shooting. I wish more metroid clones and 2D platformers did that.

Cool game! Great vibe and atmosphere. Only took me 2 hours to beat and it was pretty engrossing all the way through. The visuals are charming to me, it reminds me of 2000s freeware PC games (in the best way).
A soft non-recommend. I mean, it is free, but I ran into some bugs/glitches and the last boss, though I beat it on my first try was really odd. I didn't actually know what I was doing! Probably wouldn't recommend buying the add-on stuff.
I was frustrated by the ducking mechanic, but overall this was a great game
A love letter to Super Metroid with smooth gameplay, addictive exploration, and beautiful visuals, all for the beautiful price of free. This is a great game made by a single person (I think, I heard) that absolutely is worth your download.
It's a very mediocre free Metroid game. I applaud the effort, but AM2R exists, so you have an immediate better option for a freeware metroidvania. Plus, the story of this game is really bad. You already know you're in trouble in a sci-fi narrative where humans are capable of traveling to other star systems to wage war but are also somehow running out of living space in a galaxy with an estimated 400 billion star systems in it. However, this game decides to use its collectible text logs to go on a huge teenage edgelord rant about how humans are a bunch of horrible racist xenophobes, and I'm just so not here for it. I have seen this exact same topic explore a thousand times with more intelligence and nuance than what is essentially people swearing about aliens counter-genociding their species in their personal emails. I'm recommending this, but on the basis that if you completely ignore the text logs, then you can have some mindless fun in a short MV for a while.
Amazing game that nails the oppressive atmosphere of the first 2 Metroid
Short Metroidvania that can be beaten in under 2 hours. Great design and soundtrack, along with a nice story with awesome pieces of lore found along the way.
Way more interesting than some paid metroidvanias, this game is done by someone who has a DEEP appreciation for Super Metroid (like me). It's not perfect, absolutely, but it's very fun to play and rewarding: PROS: - Short duration (for a Metroidvania, for me, it's a plus) - Good rewards - Nice biomes - Ok Graphics - Fun and good exploration - Free to play CONS - Controls not very really reliable - Needs a bit more "indirect storytelling" - A bit too easy
