Europa Universalis V

A lot of bugs and an unclear direction from the devs. Typical paradoxslop would require a few years to cook after release but still.. this game leaves a lot to be desired.

If you like to play ironman... do not buy. I have spent nearly 100 hours on a savegame that they broke with an update. I cannot load it with the current version nor with the old version.

EU5 has a great amount of potential, but as of now they have a long, long way to go. If they were going to release it in its current state, it should have at least been in early access. Instead, Paradox is just rushing their developers to push out an unfinished game so they can keep raking in cash to keep the company afloat. I can't wait for the 20+ DLC that add basic features that should be in the base game to come out. I hope that after 4 years, when they're done polishing the game, it'll be better because I still have hope for Europa Universalis. For now, just get EU4. It’s better, cheaper, and Paradox had 10 years or so to polish it.

I love the format and the ideas, even though I'm not good at these types of games, it feels like I'm playing a turntable with all the sliders. I was hoping for more game interaction in the form of events or things you could do to influence the growing world.
