Giving this game a negative review is painful for me as I will be hurt by it directly. The game is less likely to get the support it needs over time. That being said this company will time and time again release unfinished games and complete them over the course of 5-10 years via DLC. The money is one thing but buying this or vic 3 or the rome game to early means you will have to wait forever to have the ideal experience. The chance of the game dying before it is perfected is very real as with the rome version of paradox game.
Seems to somehow get worse with every update
I actually adore Eu5. My negative review stems from the announced direction to lead the game away from its distinct simulation towards the more arbitrary and board game like predecessor. Should these plans be reverted or the game truly prospers from these changes then the review will be withdrawn.
Am not impressed due to the following issue. The Hague, Den Haag, des Gravenshage (real name) is not and has never been the Capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam always has been. This has been a thorn in my eye since EU IV, yet still no one bothered to change it for V, pretty poor and unbelievable too if you ask me, how on Earth is this still not fixed!!! The Hague was created as a seat of Government, which comes from the tradition of that location being a spot for garherings of various factions. Overtime this Hague grew out to be a city holding the seat of Government (yet, not as a Country Capital city) So, one more time Paradox, the Hague, seat of Government, Amsterdam, CAPITAL City! Holland exists of two parts (created in 1840), North and South, the Capital of the Southern part is the Hague, yet the capital of the North is Haarlem. However, the Capital city of the Netherlands (as now) is Amsterdam and has been since 1808, we did not really have a Capital before that. The capital of the Netherlands has been Amsterdam since 1808. Previously, the Netherlands had no official capital It was not until 1983 that Amsterdam's status as capital was enshrined in the Constitution . The capital of a country is usually the city where the parliament is located and the head of state lives. The Netherlands is one of the rare exceptions to this. Anyway, game looks great!
Its meh. Game's 8 months old and is pretty much in the same sorry state that it was on release. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt to fix the game post-release, since the core mechanics are actually genuinely really good, but my patience has run out. I suspect something changed in the development team (actual experienced developers either moved on to other games, or moved on from Paradox), or theres perhaps some kind of a weird public company shareholder-incentives involved, but this game is not really getting better. At best it's 1 step forward, 2 steps back, while the glaring issues remain untouched. Also how is that still possible that 8 months later whole saves are still getting borked by crashes? Could they not fable their code or something?
Go play EU4 instead, it's just better.
Almost a year post release and its basically pre alpha, it might be fun in 5 years
can't care to write a review for slop.
Jogo muito complexo para mim, no lugar de aprender a joga-lo eu preferi ir aprender programação. pelo menos na programação posso exercer uma profissao e no jogo nao.
