Love this game. Easy deck building, awesome lore behind cards, interesting solo battles. Player base is getting low, not so much people to play pvp, but still my favorite card battle game
great
Fun casual card game. You can have some fun in singleplayer, but as a new player expect to get crushed in pvp until you build up your card base.
There is very little original in this game. The scenario and interface is exactly like Hearthstone. the cards are a mix of Magic and Hearthstone. The graphics are cartoon-like, and bland
reminds me too much of Hearthstone which imo was already too mainstream
Ho-Hum ! Just another, run-of-the-mill Gatcha game. This one draws heavy inspiration from MTG, and it feels like you are playing an online version of the old MTG PC-game "Shandalar" - only, with less plot, and one that has not evolved in the past 30 years. Eternal is not bad per se, and not too stingy when handing out free "card packs", but it DOES throw "offers" at you at every turn. Played some thirty hours, before growing bored and leaving. Ah well. Back to Shandalar.
Eternal Card Game is a free-to-play digital collectible card game developed and published by Dire Wolf. Designed by developers with extensive experience in both tabletop and digital strategy games, it delivers a sophisticated card-playing experience that emphasizes tactical decision-making over luck. Rather than relying solely on flashy mechanics or rapid progression, the game focuses on meaningful deck construction, interactive battles, and strategic resource management. It successfully combines traditional trading card game fundamentals with the convenience of an accessible digital platform, making it appealing to both competitive veterans and newcomers looking for a deep yet approachable card game. The game's strongest feature is its remarkably layered gameplay. Every match requires players to think several turns ahead, balancing offense, defense, card advantage, and resource allocation. Combat feels engaging because defending players actively choose blockers instead of relying on automatic exchanges, while instant-speed spells introduce opportunities for surprise plays during an opponent's turn. These mechanics create constant interaction between both competitors, ensuring that victories often come from careful planning and smart adaptation rather than simply drawing stronger cards. The pacing remains brisk, but every decision carries strategic importance from the opening hand to the final turn. Deck customization offers tremendous freedom thanks to the game's faction system. Players can combine multiple influences to build highly personalized decks that support aggressive attacks, defensive control, elaborate combo strategies, or balanced midrange approaches. With hundreds of cards available and frequent additions expanding the collection, experimentation becomes one of Eternal's greatest strengths. Rather than forcing players into narrowly defined classes, the game encourages creative combinations that reward careful deckbuilding and continuous refinement. This flexibility keeps the overall experience fresh even after many hours of play, as discovering new synergies becomes a satisfying part of long-term progression. One of Eternal Card Game's most attractive qualities is its generous free-to-play structure. The game is designed so that dedicated players can gradually unlock cards, participate in competitive modes, and expand their collections without feeling pressured into constant spending. Daily quests, rewards, events, and various progression systems provide a steady stream of resources, allowing players to remain competitive through regular gameplay. While optional purchases are available for those who want faster collection growth or cosmetic content, the overall economy feels fair compared to many other collectible card games, making it welcoming for players regardless of their budget. Presentation is polished throughout the experience. The artwork showcases a rich fantasy world infused with elements of magic, warfare, and frontier-inspired aesthetics, giving the setting a distinctive personality. Individual cards feature detailed illustrations that help establish the game's lore, while spell effects and battle animations provide satisfying visual feedback without becoming distracting. The user interface is intuitive and responsive, making deck management, matchmaking, and collection browsing straightforward even for first-time players. Stable performance and cross-platform support further contribute to the game's accessibility, allowing players to continue building their collections across multiple devices. Beyond standard ranked competition, Eternal provides a healthy selection of game modes that cater to different playstyles. Draft events reward careful card evaluation and adaptability, while single-player campaigns and AI encounters offer opportunities to learn mechanics or enjoy the game's expanding world without competitive pressure. Seasonal events, tournaments, and regular content updates help keep the community engaged by introducing new cards, balance adjustments, and evolving strategies. These ongoing additions prevent the metagame from becoming stagnant and encourage players to revisit older deck ideas alongside newly introduced mechanics. The game is not entirely free from shortcomings. New players may initially find the extensive card pool, numerous keywords, and advanced interactions somewhat intimidating. Building an effective competitive deck still requires time and dedication, even with the generous reward system. As with most collectible card games, the competitive environment naturally gravitates toward highly optimized strategies, meaning players climbing the ranked ladder will frequently encounter similar deck archetypes. Fortunately, regular balance updates and the wide variety of viable strategies help reduce this issue over time. Overall, Eternal Card Game stands as one of the strongest free-to-play digital collectible card games available on Steam. It successfully blends classic trading card game mechanics with modern quality-of-life improvements while maintaining an economy that respects players' time and investment. Its deep strategic gameplay, highly customizable deckbuilding, polished presentation, and consistent post-launch support create an experience that remains rewarding over the long term. Whether someone is interested in casual matches, competitive ranked play, or experimenting with creative deck concepts, Eternal delivers a compelling and content-rich package that continues to justify its reputation among fans of the genre.
