Very atmospheric CO-OP game to play with friends. Finding collectables was insane but fun.
I'm not really sure where to begin with this one. Overall, this is a somewhat fun co-op escape room with some clever mechanics and interesting atmosphere. My friend and I 100% completed both the base game and the DLC, so we've experienced everything the game has to offer. Starting with the base game, the jail map is really well designed in aesthetics. A good amount of the puzzles feel logical & connected, particularly throughout the first half, and the environment itself is enjoyable to explore. It took us roughly 1.5 hours to escape, which felt like a good length. The Bunker map was also a great idea, and I really liked how it continued directly from the Jail map, making both levels feel like one larger escape room. It was a bit longer, taking us over two hours to complete, and introduced some much more complex puzzles. Unfortunately, this is also where my biggest issues with the game began. Several puzzles felt as though they existed purely for the sake of adding another obstacle rather than naturally fitting in. Some solutions seemed to have little or no logical connection to the clues around them, and even after finishing the game and checking guides afterwards, there are still puzzles where I don't understand how the intended solution was supposed to be worked out. Then there are the collectibles. I absolutely love hidden collectibles in games. They reward exploration and encourage players to pay attention to their surroundings instead of simply speed running to the end. However, I think this game goes far too far in the opposite direction. Many of the collectibles are hidden so absurdly well that most players will probably never find a single one during a normal playthrough. Some require you to stand at an incredibly specific angle just to notice the edge of a collectible poking out from behind an object, while others are hidden in areas that are so dark they're practically invisible. We had only found 1 collectible after playing the Jail map for the first time, and only that was at the end of the map pretty much. Overall, I do recommend giving this game a try, especially if you have a friend to play with. The escape room concept is fun, the environments are enjoyable, and a few of the puzzles are fun. Just don't expect to complete everything without outside help. If more of the puzzles felt naturally connected to their surroundings, the collectibles were hidden a little more fairly, and there was a bit more lore tying everything together, I think this could have been an excellent escape room experience. As it stands, it's still an enjoyable game, and considering it's free, it's maybe worth your time, but be prepared for a many moments that may leave you questioning your own sanity. I don't however think the Bunker DLC is worth a purchase.
spent over 30 mins trying to get of the jail. there's no directions on what to do and its all very confusing...even at free its not worth the 9.8 gigs of memory space...
