Not much to say other than praises for this VNs. Currently it's just the first chapter but it already look like it'll shape to be one of the best indie VNs of the recent years. First, the artstyle is absolutely stunning, it's clear the author went all out with that. Every sprite and background is beatifully crafted which in turn help to bring out a lot from the characters and the story itself. The full voice acting (an absolute rarity it being there being an indie VN), is very well done and rival those of the really professional VNs. It really helps out bringing life to the characters and the story around them making me completely immersed. The story is very well told and gripping, there is not too much fluff in the dialogue as compared to other VNs which is a huge bonus for me. Altough sometime the prose may present some terms that will leave some non native english speakers like me a bit confused with them being a bit more elevated, but really that was the only thing i could say which i didn't like and it happen 2-3 times so most probably will not even notice and it certainly won't deter you from enjoying the story. conclusion: As i said in the title, while for now being only one chapter, this visual novel is shaping out to be one of the best in the indie genre, i'm very eager to see what the author has in store for the next chapters.

This review is for chapter 1, the only one available at the moment. If you are into Japanese VNs with romance, but also into fantasy and adventure, you are likely to have a good time with Empyreal Dawn. There isn't a lot of story just yet, but it's shaping up to be a good one. The writing style is very readable, except when it... elects to utilise all the quaint phraseology it manages to espy. That does contribute to the fantasy atmosphere though, and it's not too common to be a problem. The writing is also quite humorous when it's appropriate, mostly reminiscent of the traditional Japanese jokes, at times edging between corny and cute. Based on some of the initial dialogue I almost thought it would be a generic comedy on the level of Muv-Luv Extra, but it's not that at all. It won me over with good characters by the end. I lowkey expected the two kingdoms to be "good" and "evil" respectively, but I was quickly disproven. The writer is really not afraid to show even some of the heroines be selfish or merciless. Only makes them more interesting. The characters in general surprised me several times, and it's clear that many of them have complicated motivations and room for development. That's why I'm waiting for next chapters. I already simp for some of the girls. The trailer sure is gorgeous. Not all of the artwork in the VN is quite this level of quality, but almost all of it is really good, even the backgrounds. You can even differentiate kingdoms by their fashion and architecture. The character designs hit all the attractive tropes. The sprites have plenty of cute expressions as well. Most sprites only have one pose so far, and some discrepancies between the sprites' art styles do stand out, but it stopped bothering me after a while. Individual beauty of the artworks makes up for it, at least for me. The music is relaxing and magical, and really enjoyable. All themes are good fits for what they represent, and the composer plays around with many styles while still maintaining the fantasy feel. For example the track that plays during choices sounds quiet yet intense, like a ticking clock, and makes the choices reach levels of hype I haven't quite experienced before. After completing chapter 1, I just let the last track play in the background and loved my time with it. All of the voice acting is great. As in, professional level great, much like in big Japanese VNs. Both the MC and the accompanying girl have very pleasant voices, but even a random maid with 2 lines delivered them exactly as they should be. The emotionless girl sounds so uncanny it made me uncomfortable at first, and I like it. Stellar work across the board. The world and characters crafted with care + high production values = really enjoyable VN so far.

The dialogue can get a bit hard for non native english speaker, but in most cases it's to reflect the noble way of speaking, which is another plus to immersion The quality is on par with some of the japanese novels i played Keep up the good work, i'll be cheering for you

Right now, the VN is only the demo, so you'll probably want to wait for Chapter 2 before buying. The VN takes about an hour to finish. The first chapter is lightning quick, though it's shaping up to be interesting thus far. The language is a bit old-timey in parts, yet understandable. It has VO and some good character sprites. There's also VO for the menus too, which is nice. Also, even though I'm pretty sure this VN was made by English speakers, there's only JP VO. It's probably trying to disguise itself as a VN actually made in Japan. As for the premise, it's straightforward: Two nations hate each other, and there are additional elements that could make it a 3-way fight. Their issues with each other appear to be over the Goddess of this verse, with one side thinking the Goddess can be trusted, and the other not. There seems to have been a ceasefire between the two nations for a bit, but the nation we see has been building up their war material for a while. In fact, they've been building up so much that they've taken all available steel for the war effort, not leaving anything for civilians. We never really see what the nation's cities are like, but from that alone, I'd imagine the economy is in shambles. With that in mind, it somewhat makes sense why the royal guard POV we see is so easily provoked. The VN could be worth keeping an eye on, but unless you really want to hand over some cash, hold off on paying until Chapter 2.

"It has Eris, what else needs to be said?" =(^,.,^)= Jokes aside, I am really enjoying the way that Empyreal Dawn seems to be going. I have been following the creator for a long while now, and am happy to finally see their visual novel on steam. Will give a quick rundown of some of the key things below. Gameplay: It's a VN, so you read, click, read, click, make choices, read, click, etc. Do be sure to enjoy the voice and art though, reasoning below. >.< Art: The art is remarkable, especially so for a indie VN. There are differences in some of the art, probably due to there being various artists, but they still all look amazing and mesh pretty well together as a whole. The background art is also nice, especially the shots of the kingdoms. OST: Not many at the moment, but the one's currently available sound lovely. The fact that there's a music box for you to go back and listen to the soundtrack whenever you want is a very appealing bonus. Definitely recommend giving them a solid listen when you get the chance. Story: Only chapter 1 is available as of this review, so there's not to much I can say in regards to the overall story. But just within the first chapter, we get plenty of development regarding the characters shown and the region they reside in, and it does leave me wanting more. So I look forward to the release of the next chapter. Characters: Eris is best girl, fight me. O.O The characters are well drawn and each have interesting and unique personalities. The voices chosen for each character matches them very well, even the side casts. Mister Knight is someone I definitely can't wait to see develop more. Also, give more Eris! Please and thank you. Voices: Yes, every character has been voiced, and I am loving it. Having voices for the characters help me understand that much more about how they feel and express themselves. So having the opportunity to hear their voices is a huge plus in my books. You can also unlock their voices for the menu options and settings once you've met them in the story, which is a nice added bonus. All in all, there isn't much I can tell you since it's only the first chapter for now, but it's already shaping up to becoming a high quality visual novel. If you enjoy visual novels and are in need of a new one, I'd for sure recommend giving Empyreal Dawn a go. Have I mentioned the fact of how exquisite and stunning Eris is? Yea, I main Eris. PS. Eris pretty Game's good too! Very high-quality prose, artwork and design; it's clear that both passion and skill were meticulously poured over this introduction in droves. I particularly appreciate the dynamic writing and visual scene-crafting at the tail end of the demo - which I won't spoil with details - as well as the overall aesthetic. To talk about writing a bit more, Empyreal Dawn hits a pretty good balance between complexity and clarity, which makes it fun and interesting to read without being overly stuffy or hard to digest. This feeling being generally ever-present also helps to give the whole game its own atmosphere, immersing the reader in the game's world; perhaps this is a personal opinion, but it feels to me as if you're able to get some small feeling for the world's cultures through the language used in speech and narration. Frankly, the only complaint I could come up with at this point would be length; I'd guess there's about a half hour to an hour of story available right now? But, that said, for a demo it shows off the game pretty well. For clarity, I've supported this game on Patreon for a couple of months before release (through which I also first played, so ignore my current playtime), so I've seen it build up to this point a little, and to speak with perfect honesty, I don't think I could be much more pleased. Give it a go!

The content itself is ok, but Vn is falsely advertised as a 2+ hour demo when it took only about a half hour of actual reading to finish. if it was free ill give it a pass but the fact it is way overpriced and it doesnt seem like updates will reallly happen often i only recommend playing the demo instead of buying it
