EMPTY SHELL will throw you in a dark industrial environment, a secret facility on a Japanese island. Each volunteer has signed a contract for a "recovery operation" without being privy to too many details. A tense roguelite survival horror with a top down perspective.

I really, really liked this game. Enough to get all the achievements, and to do that, you have to play on a difficulty that's even harder than Nightmare difficulty, and that was quite a challenge. I liked the gameplay, the lore, the atmosphere; all well done. It is a horror game but it's not too scary, it's more that you're always tense, scared of what might appear right around the corner. Some things I wasn't a fan of were the backtracking, which you'll have to do a lot of if you want to play on the hardest difficulties (although I don't know how this could be fixed), and [strike]the lack of weapon stats, which make it difficult to know which weapon is better than the other[/strike] (the game just added weapon stats). Overall, I recommend this game, and I can't wait for its sequel 😊
tldr; fun game but roguelite elements are pointless and should be negated with modifiers It's a fun and entertaining game, the only main issue that comes to mind is I have no clue why this had to be a "roguelite", it doesn't add anything and only serves to ruin all progress if you die once late in the game, especially on harder diffifuculties. I highly reccomend using the recover all inventory modifier if you're playing on hard or nightmare. You still lose secret related items from previous levels even if you have the modifier on even getting the item related to the secret. The only thing roguelike about it is recovering items from your previous character and slightly different level layouts (that contain all the same rooms anyway). A full run is multiple hours long with break points and roguelikes are about multiple runs you can complete in one sitting with overarching progress. You can't unlock devices for new runs since you can't game over, only restart an entire playthrough.
Don't pass on this game because of its aesthetics. This will get your heart pounding.
empty shell looks inside has flesh inside... wait what
kind of like darkwood (2017) but with japanese people in a SCP like facility island. very good
this game has awesome atmosphere and is really fun to play. its the first ever roguelike ive played.
Один из тех шутеров, где ты сдох, потому что в комплексе, полном тварей, тебе не хватило денег на вендинговый автомат
I recommend this game is you like playing poker, because all this kind of rogue-something games kinda give you cards and you play them as you see fit, so the actual first step to victory, even in trading card games, has to do with randomly getting the right cards, thus some runs are lost since they start due to the way levels are designed and characters are equipped by default. The fun is to play until luck meets skill. The only two negative points are that there are a lot of lore stuff, such as those on computers, that are pointless when the main concern is not gathering lore but complete the mission, the lore stuff seldom help with the tasks, so reaching a point of the map only to find often boring pieces of lore, feels unworthy when you are looking for an actual objective. Also, I would have rather have the next character being able to pick up were the previous one left, because if everything is erased his/her sacrifice was pointless, but I think it has to do with the rogue-something genre, or it reinforces the idea of how expendable these characters are in some symbolic way, I don't know. A side note, not good nor bad, is that until I saw every character having Japanese names, I thought it was a post-Soviet kind of setting, because all the aesthetics look so like that.
I played this on hard and it was TOUGH! But, I beat it after I got... better at the game
Great atmosphere, repetitive gameplay. You loose a volunteer then you get a new dweeb not ready for the fight and you might as well start from the first level. Except it feels like homework to all the way back. Or you could keep going, but then death is pointless? Whats the goal, why are we doign this? It isnt fun, the story isnt really gripping in the slightest. Fights are clunky.
