One of the best 4X games of all time updated to run on modern systems with some nice quality-of-life updates. The UI is a bit clunky and the gameplay is a bit heavy on micro-management. Otherwise, this is a fantastic game with incredible strategic depth, a robust economic system, diplomatic intrigue, challenging AI, fascinating lore, and immaculate sci-fi-Gothic vibes.
This is one of the titles where I wish there was a mixed/meh review. The game itself is great with the big if that is if you loved the original. There is a little bit of quality of life updates and it easily works on modern systems is great. I may of just been expecting a little bit more from an 'enhanced' version. A little bit more qol stuff a bit more UI polish. It's still the simple little things like on the turn summary, I can see a farm was attacked but a simple way to find and/or go to the attack site, still no. It's still a great game I was just hoping for a little more enhancment to try and limit some of the more painful elements.

If you are a fan of strategy games, okay passing back and forth a save file between friends, and aren't disgusted by 1997 graphics, then you'll find out that this game is fantastic! I recommend getting the game manual online and running through the "Quick Start / Tutorial" section if you want to learn how to use the controls. (Recommend watching a YouTube video or two on mechanics afterwards.) A fun strategy game made for playing with a group of friends, with deep mechanics that are easy to digest!
Played this as a kid when it first came out and super nostalgic to relive those memories, plus it seems like the Devs fixed the issues I remember from first release. Graphics may not be polished but the core gameplay is incredibly fun and replayable (beaten it twice so far and starting a third playthrough).
Have owned this game since it first came out years ago. I still have the printed manual & tech tree poster. A game ahead of its time when released, it has only improved with age. Played this new enhanced version on GoG, it was well worth getting again on Steam. Looking forward to the continued development of this classic. Highly recommend to any 4x space strategy fan!
Generally speaking a good and very enjoyable game. Graphics and user interface definitely show their age, but if you can get past that it's easy to find yourself in a constant cycle of "just one more turn..." fun. Recommended for anyone who likes turn-based strategy games.
This is a classic. I've loved it since it first came out. So happy to see it getting continued love and attention!
One of the best turn based sim games of it's type. An immersive world, and with the extensive modding community, a never ending replayability experience.
I am leaving a positive review because this is a good game.
I saw this game getting a lot of praise for its game design and decided to check it out. Now I can't stop playing...
