Elven Legacy: Siege is an expansion to the turn-based strategy title Elven Legacy, developed by 1C:InoCo and published by Fulqrum Publishing. Rather than functioning as a standalone experience, it builds directly upon the systems and world established in the base game, offering an additional campaign that deepens the ongoing conflict between humans, elves, and other fantasy factions. Set within the same high-fantasy universe, the expansion continues the political and military tensions that define the series, focusing particularly on renewed hostilities sparked by exiled elven forces and the resulting human response. Gameplay remains firmly rooted in hex-based, turn-based tactical combat. Players command armies composed of varied fantasy units, each with distinct strengths, weaknesses, and abilities. Positioning, terrain advantages, and resource management play crucial roles in determining the outcome of battles. Siege emphasizes defensive warfare more heavily than the original campaign, with many missions centered around fortified cities, chokepoints, and strategic holds. This shift in emphasis forces players to approach combat with greater patience and foresight, often prioritizing unit preservation and calculated counterattacks over aggressive expansion. The expansion introduces a new narrative arc structured across a series of campaign missions. These scenarios are interconnected, meaning performance in earlier battles can influence resources and options available later. New heroes are added to the roster, each bringing unique abilities that alter tactical possibilities on the battlefield. These characters are not merely cosmetic additions; their skills and progression systems meaningfully impact strategy, encouraging players to experiment with different army compositions and tactical approaches. Unit diversity is expanded through additional army configurations, offering more variety in how players construct their forces. While the underlying mechanics remain consistent with the base game, Siege enhances strategic depth by introducing mission objectives that require more nuanced planning. Defending against overwhelming odds, coordinating reinforcements, and managing limited resources become recurring challenges. The design rewards methodical decision-making and punishes reckless advances, reinforcing the deliberate pace typical of traditional turn-based wargames. Visually, the expansion maintains the same engine and artistic style as the original Elven Legacy. Units are clearly defined on the hex grid, with stylized fantasy designs that prioritize readability over spectacle. Terrain features such as forests, hills, and city walls play a functional role in combat, making environmental awareness essential. While the graphics reflect the era of its release rather than modern standards, they remain serviceable and consistent within the established aesthetic of the series. Difficulty can be demanding, particularly for players unfamiliar with classic hex strategy conventions. Missions often require careful unit management over multiple turns, and losing experienced units can have lasting consequences in subsequent scenarios. This persistence adds weight to decisions and fosters a sense of campaign continuity. For experienced strategy players, this level of challenge can be satisfying, as it reinforces the importance of long-term planning and tactical discipline. Multiplayer functionality extends the experience beyond the campaign, allowing players to test their strategies against others. However, the primary appeal of Siege lies in its single-player content, where narrative progression and mission variety provide the core engagement. The expansion does not dramatically reinvent the formula established by the base game, but it refines and extends it with additional content tailored for dedicated fans. Ultimately, Elven Legacy: Siege serves as a substantial addition for players invested in the original title’s tactical framework and fantasy setting. Its strengths lie in its thoughtful mission design, expanded hero roster, and increased emphasis on siege-oriented strategy. While it may not attract newcomers seeking fast-paced or visually cutting-edge experiences, it offers a rewarding and methodical continuation for enthusiasts of traditional turn-based strategy games. Having played both Elven Legacy the base game and Elven Legacy Ranger I can say without any hesitation that this one's a great game too. Unlike the base game, the difficulty level here has been fixed but it's still harder than the Elven Legacy Ranger especially near the end . If you can then try to save your leveled up troops as many as you can without them it's really going to be super hard later on. I just wished that they had the budget to narrate the story with some voice acting anyway nevertheless it offers solid gameplay and value for it's price. I got it on sale and I am happy that I made the right decision to buy this collection. I highly recommend it and it's a must have for your collection if you love Role Playing and strategy games. Note:- It supports 1080p
Iam bit dissapointed, solely because i cant play as dwarf on this dlc. It have dwarf cover and siege name, which dwarf speciality on this game. But in this game i just played as another human, already done so in ranger dlc. What a shame, i was looking forward to use dwarf unit and their campaign, i though each dlc let you play as each race, Legacy as elves, ranger as human, siege supposedly as dwarf, magic as another elf for some reason probably followed up from the legacy. Regardless, since iam play as human again in this dlc, i just breeze throught the campaign, since iam well versed on human unit and their strategies. I want give it thumbs down but i got this very cheap and its not like its bad game, its plays well and no issue whatsover. Just dissapointed cause its not about dwarf at all despite have dwarf as cover!
produced by liars, thieves, and incompetence.
Kind of a mid expansion but worth it if the bundle is on sale
