You can skip this one. El Paso, Elsewhere is great. El Paso, Nightmare isn't. This is a 3 stage proof of concept that is very rough around the edges.
El Paso, Nightmare was released before El Paso, Elsewhere as a sort of demo for that game while it was still in development. Now that it's out, this game doesn't really serve a purpose anymore. Instead of the 3rd person Max Payne style action shooter that El Paso, Elsewhere is, this game is a first person survival horror side story. Well in theory at least. The opening level is a short labyrinth where you are unarmed and have to avoid an enemy or two while you navigate the corridors. The enemy AI is blind as a bat and runs at the same pace as you, so you literally can't get hurt unless you stop moving. Then you enter the second and final level of the game, which is a giant wave shooter arena/maze that shows off pretty much all of the enemies and environments you'll see in El Paso, Elsewhere. If it weren't for the poor controls and boring enemy AI, this might've actually been a fun section that provides some replayability. As for the story part, well there really isn't any. You play as a man who is trying his hardest to sound scared for about 30 minutes, and then you die. There isn't anything that sheds light on the narrative of El Paso, Elsewhere or its characters. Playing in first person also highlights the weird animations on the guns and reminds me of GTAV's nauseating first person mode. And the lack of a sprint or jump button, or a weapon menu to see what you have, or a way of dodging the AoE enemies makes this a very frustrating experience. There is simply nothing worth experiencing here that isn't already in El Paso, Elsewhere.

[th] ✔️ The Good [/th]

• Stylized Action: *El Paso, Nightmare* delivers fast-paced third-person shooting with a cool, grindhouse aesthetic that makes every level feel like a pulp action flick.

• Satisfying Gunplay: The game’s slow-motion diving and dual-wield mechanics give you that classic Max Payne vibe. Every shootout feels cinematic and smooth.

• Enemy Repetition: While fun to fight, enemy types become repetitive quickly, and there’s not much strategic variety required beyond reflex and movement.

• Audio Mixing Issues: The soundtrack slaps, but sometimes dialogue or effects get drowned out, making it hard to follow what’s being said in the middle of chaos. Players who want to tweak performance or remap controls will be disappointed. Luis Rojas' American Nightmare
not bad but also not good
I think this is a ok game. I don't really have too many things to say it not horrible It's just it doesn't excite me. There is not anything there to make me want to play it. That's the worst part of it. But it is a wave shooter, which I just is completely not interested in, the closest thing to a wave shooter. I enjoy is orcs Must die and this is more in the kill the Monsters before touches you kind of gameplay, so I found not really anything compelling. I am not want to return to the game maybe you will find art style the horror the music anything to make you want to play it but for me it is a no-go.
Stressful little horror boomer shooter. I know this was a proof of concept or whatever and is not much like El Paso, Elsewhere but I had fun. And the voice actor is great!
It's alright. I got it for free with El Paso, Elsewhere so I won't be harsh. I'm guessing this is some sort of intro to the world of El Paso, Elsewhere but instead of being a third person game it's a survival horror type deal. That is, until you get to the second/last level of this little side story, where it's a survival horror but now you have guns and you have to make it through a surreal labyrinth while fighting a minimum amount of waves of enemies. I'll be honest, the confusing maze of this wasn't my favorite part. But again, given the circumstances I'm not gonna be harsh. It's an alright short play.
