When I purchased this software it said that it was fully translated to English. I then downloaded the extra tools that you needed to use the engine to its full potential and almost all of them were fully in Japanese. This made me unable to use the software for anything because I do not speak Japanese and all of the important tools were in Japanese. The engine/game also runs very poorly and I never got over 15 fps in it. Both of these problems caused me to refund the engine. I believe that if the developers took the time to fix these two problems and streamlined the game creation system this would be a really good fighting game engine. I was originally really excited when I bought this, but left disappointed.
Great software for creative minds who love fighting games! I have been using this software for several years on-and-off, and it's one of the pieces of software, along with other customizable titles like M.U.G.E.N, that fueled my passion for game development. This engine allows for near-total control of many aspects from graphics to music to physics and other important facets of development. Documentation exists to guide the developer or modder to making their own full game or just modifying the game to their liking using files created by other developers. I highly suggest using the documentation to your full advantage. It is very helpful. This is a great engine and gives you so much to work with. I'm in love all over again with the release version. Hopefully you will be too! HIGHLY recommend trying this one out.

If you are both comftorable reading japanese and using SoftImage Mod Tools 7.5 then you can easily create games. If not then --good luck because the developers will not respond to the most basic questions I have placed in the discussions forum. I went through the manual. Installed everything requried. Learned How to Use SoftImage well enough. While I am glad I took time to look at Soft Image. It does not mean that I could use it for EF-12 because of the manual being so poorely constructed. --the images are still in japanese --tutorials are fine but could be better. A PDF file containing all of them and not just a ♥♥♥♥ ton of assorted files would be appropriate and standard. Im gunna give this a Never BUY.
This game is hard to use. Its more a fighting game that let's you import models (like modding minecraft) rather than letting you make your own game (like RPG maker). It also has it's own format for models so you can't just paste a .3ds file or whatever and then said file is in the game. also i have only 0.7 hours on reccord as most of my time was spent in file explorer on chrome and not much time playing the game
Also mal unter uns, WTF?
EF-12: Fighting Game Maker: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Fighting games are usually fun but difficult to master. Learning and remembering each character’s moves (including the special ones) is always a challenge, to say the least. With EF-12: Fighting Game Maker and your own creativity, you will be able to design your own moves, settings and modelling. So, let’s jump into the EF-12 Game Maker arena and create your own fighting game! EF-12: Fighting Game maker is a game engine where you can create your own fighting game. As you click on the application, you will be prompted to either launch the software or read the manual. First I will start with the arcade mode available on EF-12: Fighting Game Maker. In this mode, you will have to select one of the thirteen characters available with the software (you can download further characters; make sure you check out all the guides from the game developer within the game steam store page). Once you have done so, you can jump into the fighting arena. You will notice a red circle on the floor - this is the confined space where the fight will take place. If you managed to kick your adversary beyond the red circle, he/she will be penalised by losing health on his/her life bar. But the same will happen to you if they manage to kick you out of the circle. You will win the fight by defeating your opponent twice; then you’ll move onto the next stage, and so on and so forth until you beat all combatants. Each fighter has his/her own moves, and you can learn them by accessing the manual which is located within the game files. If you want to have a quick fight, all you have to do is to select the single match mode. Now for the creative minds out there who want to create a new epic fighting game - I strongly suggest checking out the guides available on the EF-12 Fighting Game Maker page. You’ll find plenty of information and downloads, too. Personally, I find it a little bit difficult to get my head around at this stage, but I can definitely see the potential if you take the time and put your mind to it. The graphics and gameplay are decent. Positives: ~~~~~~~~~ - Great additional guides and downloads provided by the Devs - Decent graphics and gameplay - Good price point Negatives: ~~~~~~~~~~ - Takes time to learn You can take this engine as far as you want. 7/10 Key provided by developer/publisher for review purposes. The combat is good, game looks good, and sounds good but creating is rather confusing but theres a tut in the documents of the game. i never modded before so i have no clue how to work it but i was expectting an ingame editor instead of finding different tools to edit it, but hey im no modder so i wouldnt know. overall its a good fighting game
Well I bought this on playism a few months back, glad it also come with a steam version too. This engine can be a good as you want it to be, maybe one of you guys will even go on and make that Tekken x Street Fighter we've always wanted. The base game feels a bit lacking, but thats okay because the point of it all is to make it your own. I do wish how ever editing was easier, not just the characters but the interface too. All and all it's a good engine and there's lots of potental.
The Good (from videos I have seen) -customization -very lineant and desirable commercial use -many tools The Bad (from others I have read) -can be a bit convoluted The Ugly -Maybe it's just me but this is optimized like Hot garbage 4/10 - optimization should be priority
