ED-IT is one of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam. It's been slapped together with the godawful GameMaker Studio video game construction kit from Yoyogames. It's a basic 2D platformer with one twist, there's an edit mode so you can adjust parts of the level, which you need to do to complete the level. Like most GameMaker Studio construction kit "games", this features lazy 2D retro pixel "art", instead of professionally done, contemporary PC graphics. Controls and resolution are locked, which pushes this below acceptable standards for PC. GameMaker Studio is a very poor quality game construction kit, and unsurprisingly results in products that have little to no value as games, especially when compared to the work of professional developers who create genuine products for gamers. Just like you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear, you can't make a good game from a completely crap game engine. Using a video game construction kit requires little to no talent or skill as a game developer. Very often, GameMaker Studio is used to make shovelware and lazy cash grabs. While this is "free", it's really just a demo/non-serious attempt at making a game, it's just Game Jam/amateur project garbage and should be avoided. Game Jam and other student/project games are not made for gamers, they're made for the benefit of stroking the ego of developers. It's obviously not possible for a game slapped together over a few days (9 days in the case of ED-IT, something the developers seem to be proud of, this is not something to be proud of) to be of the same quality as a properly, sincerely made game from a full development team with a full budget who take the right amount of time and put in genuine hard work to create a product for gamers. Sure, it is possible to slap together a game in such a manner, unprofessionally. This is a lot like driving a car using only your feet. Just because it can be done, doesn't mean it's a good idea, and often ends up in disaster. I'm sure they think it's remarkable they were able to make a game without dedicating the right resources and talent to the job, but we must ask why this benefits gamers... and it doesn't. It's polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuine games and for genuine indie developers who put months or years into making proper games find an audience.

A brilliantly clever, mind-bending, and genuinely charming puzzle-platformer that breathes fresh air into the indie scene! Taking control of a cute little robot named Ed who can literally "dream" solutions into existence while navigating tricky layouts is just as inventive as it sounds. The crisp, stylized visuals and the clever level architecture perfectly capture that satisfying early-2000s flash puzzle energy. Swapping into the unique "dream mode" to edit your surroundings on the fly, uncovering hidden blocks, and mastering fixed-timing obstacles creates an incredibly tight, rewarding, and thought-provoking gameplay loop.It is the absolute perfect, bite-sized arcade challenge for testing your logical thinking, passing a cozy afternoon, and enjoying a uniquely built puzzle world—complete with a few wholesome surprises along the way. A short but finely polished little gem that deserves a spot in any platformer fan's library. Definitely recommended!
Mix of platforming and puzzle makes a great game! The game is a little short with 7 levels only and some of them are really challenging. The game will be easier once you realize that the timing of moving items is fix and there are some hidden blocks. I managed to beat the game in 50 minutes. I recommend the game since it is free and short for casual playing.
