I know that Techland's attention should be elsewhere right now, as Dying Light: The Beast now exists. It's truly a shame what happened to this game, because with the tiniest bit of attention, it could be alive again. Honestly, just releasing this game for free for everyone, or maybe Dying Light owners or Dying Light: The Beast owners, and letting modders make their own maps, could honestly revive this game. This game has quite the interesting gameplay, as it is a unique mix of Battle Royale and extraction mechanics. That combination makes it stand out from most games in either genre and gives it a distinct identity that is still enjoyable today. Even though the game is pretty much dead nowadays, as someone who has spent countless hours playing the Dying Light franchise and all three main games, I still find value in it. PVE is obviously amazing as expected. PVP is also quite interesting but rare since there are no people playing. Though whether it's playing in private matches or occasionally finding a public lobby with the few remaining players, there's still fun to be had. Even when playing alone, simply roaming around the map and experiencing mechanics that never made it into the original Dying Light is fascinating. You can almost see the bridge between Dying Light 1 and Dying Light 2 through features such as the blocking mechanic and other gameplay ideas that would later evolve in the sequel. It's also interesting from a historical perspective, as Bad Blood remains the only true player-versus-player experience in the Dying Light series outside of Be the Zombie in Dying Light 1. If you've ever wondered what direct survivor-versus-survivor parkoor combat could look like in Dying Light, this is the only place where that idea was fully explored.
