I was browsing Steam out of boredom when I stumbled across this newly released game. Since it was free, I installed it expecting the usual slop… but it turned out to be the complete opposite. This game is insane. It’s a wild bullet hell with very polished mechanics, brutally difficult but fair (unforgiving, but not unfair), and a strong identity. It definitely takes inspiration from classic titles in the genre, while adding enough fresh ideas to stand on its own. The atmosphere is fantastic: a no-nonsense Mad Max vibe paired with a heavy, industrial 80s-style electronic soundtrack that fits perfectly. The sound design overall is tight and well integrated—you can tell the devs really cared. Gameplay-wise, there’s a lot of freedom. Plenty of weapons and different ways to approach runs, so if you like experimenting, there’s a lot here. Every level introduces something new, so have a bit of patience and try new things. The grappling hook mechanic for jumping between cars is especially fun—reminded me of Pursuit Force at its best. Performance is flawless: runs smooth like silk, feels great to play, controls are very responsive and allow you to maneuver smoothly. I haven’t encountered any bugs so far. I ended up buying the supporter pack without hesitation. This game for 5 bucks? That’s crazy. Highly recommended. Now let’s see if I can finally beat the second boss… that flamethrower cross-fire always get me hahaha try dodging two at the same time! Tip: use the top and bottom edges of the screen. They won’t always save you, but they help more than you’d think. Plus, whatever yo do, KEEP SHOOTING, even when it feels you are doing no dmg xD More games like this, please.

Dustin Sunset is a bullet hell with a twist. The game revolves around using different vehicles you find along the road and their weapons. Each vehicle has limited ammunition, constantly forcing the player to adapt quickly, as each vehicle has a different weapon and damage. The game offers a base vehicle at the start, but it has very weak damage. There is a wide variation of vehicles, from cars and tanks to even a piggyback ride in a Hulk clone. The game has two versions: - The free version: It has all the stages, but you only have nine lives. An outdated approach in 2026. It is essentially made as a demo. - The DLC version: This is the version you'll enjoy the game with. It has infinite lives for the story mode, with only a penalty on your score if you die. The RECOMMENDED version to explore and enjoy the flow of the gameplay. Mistakenly named "Practice" in the selection mode.

Dustin Sunset pros: //fast game with modern day graphics with easy controls that moves from location A to B to C and so on cons: //difficult boss battles //some overpowered enemies //enemies spawn too fast and destroy you by running into you //not enough grapple charges and lives //repetitive //good game Personal Suggested Purchase Price: Free To Play extra notes: //you are a road warrior seeking revenge against those who destroyed your city //motorcycle, grapple/hijack other vehicles why attacking your way to victory //end of the road if you can't get past a boss
How on earth is this free? Dustin Sunset is a charming pixel-art shmup/bullett hell made with passion. It's fast-paced, has a fresh gimmick, and some great art. Don't be fooled by the admission price, because this version of the game is the way it was meant to be played. This is a classic arcade type game that is meant to be challenging. tl;dr - Free full game with fun art, strong gameplay and addicting loop. 10/10 I hope the dev makes more games!
