There is a lot of love that has gone into this but the attack animations are so freaking slow. I like the little world the game creates, and the voice acting is pretty fun. For $2, this is worth a throw and since it is still in early access, there is a lot of room to improve. I honestly am rooting for this to do well. https://youtu.be/d6jKmwHfKPQ
The world is interesting and unique feeling and the dialogue is nice. While some swearing in one part felt bit out of place or not quite consistent with other dialogue. But certainly interested to see more and find new things. Some interactions, or their results could be bit more obvious for those who doesn't always pay attention and then might be baffled with what happened unless there's clear visual or audio cue. Navigating menus can also be bit inconvenient at times. Combat and animations in general are bit stiff and needs some time to get used to, but after a while I could do what I wanted with expected results, while it might restrict one's tactics into one or few moves that works every time. Lots of the fun comes from trying different approaches and the characters reacting with new dialogue and options. Your actions are final and finding everything requires multiple playthroughs which works fine here, but the will to do so in the long run might depend a bit on the length of the game with coming episodes and how they are structured. Will be interesting to see where the game goes in the future and I still have more to explore in the current version. Meow.
Still in Early Release at this time so still plenty of room to get better. Right now it feels like an early souls game so unfortunately not to my taste in general. Combat options so far seem limited to "block it" or "walk out of the way" as i havent seen any ranged weaponry yet.
Played and finished offline: Rather short and simple gameplay being only the Episode 0, but even so a worthy, refreshingly original personality of its own. Please, no gaslighting, this isn't souls like *at all*. It's a prologue. But, surpringly, a truly fantastic *written* story background and manual, like a very good complex short novel enough for a superior game. Usually don't read those, but it was so masterfully written, I was absorbed by the details willy nilly. Overall a good different time, some hours, glad enough to have played. Disclosure: In my curiosity and interest, I cheat engined all aspects, up to a high level, some 70 or so, attributes to 18 or so, maximized the sword pommel and blade with oodles of materials and salt. 100% all orgs, even if only interacted with 1. And then didn't use the sword except to open gates, as I could knock out all foes with 2 or 3 fists strikes: didn't kill anyone, and chose to be friendly with Daxter. Rather funny, really, but peaceful, heh.
Had a pretty good experience with the game. Combat feels a bit stiff at times, but you get used to it and can overlook it for what the game has to offer. The ability to converse with potential enemies was not something I was able to ascertain during my first playthrough so I stuck to just KO'ing with fisticuffs and progressing. Having multiple options to press forward is always a neat option; so I hope to learn/experience more when on a second playthrough of Ep 0. The visuals/music matched the setting well too. The post-completion recap showing what you did/didn't do during the level was pretty awesome, and perhaps one of my favorite elements; as it gives me some ideas of what to look for next time. All in all a great experience in my first 2.4hrs w/ it.
After completing Episode 0, I think this game still shows promising potential. It boasts an excellent dialogue and character creation system, decent level design with hidden puzzles, and multiple approaches to achieving objectives. Therefore, despite my dislike for its clunky controls, awkward animation and combat mechanics, and the female protagonist whose overly broad facial structure and disproportionately large nose make her resemble a man in frontal views, I've decided to give it a positive review while looking forward to Episode 1 and future content updates.
the combat sure is unforgiving and the game in early access, im excited to see what it will look like in the future
Neat lil indie game, I hope the dev sticks with it cuz I see some real potential. It runs a little poorly though, so some further optimization seems to be required but I'll keep playing and let you know what else I find.:steamhappy:
You just can feel love pouring from this little game with so many difficult mechanics installed.
